    Delighted to say this has passed its Mainline steam boiler test in South Africa!!! The Beyer Garratt, though Henschel built lives again

    Where did you see 4074 ,I managed to bag GMA 4072 on Voorbaai shed near Mossel Bay on12/10/1996.Photo attached.

    This was 4072 a few years earlier, in April 1980, on Voorbai MPD when named 'Black Beauty'. Also on shed was an equally clean classmate named 'Amin'. When I asked the shedmaster the reason for the unexpected name he replied " It's big black ugly and covered in brass - what else do you want me to call it?"
