Should be 3 as it's booked down the Windsor Fast from West Crossings.

Anyone waiting at Basingstoke or Salisbury, you might want to grab a tea, no hot water in the buffet due to a boiler issue!

I was bowled by several trains for the departure from Waterloo at my position in a block of flats if it helps!

Payback for getting up at silly o’clock two days running, on the footplate on the favourite part of the line back in the day between Woking and Basingstoke. The last time I did that was going the other way on a much rougher riding 34021, April 67.

RTT shows it hasn’t got beyond Grateley. Is that right?

Seems to be a problem with RTT as no trains being reported in the Salisbury area

Pottered through Berrylands at about 60, no exhaust. You win some, you lose some. The second special of the day down the SWML, the so-called tribute to the 'Bournemouth Belle' (Northern Belle with diesel) was diverted at the eleventh hour to the GWML - so even less of a tribute!! 115A9916a.jpeg

Rougher-riding loco or rougher track back then (or both)? What a treat to do that stretch on the footplate!

In 67 the locos were all clapped out but I’m not sure if the track has been improved or not

Track had been relayed by then and was in very good condition. That stretch saw quite a few 100 mph runs in 1967

Apparently 40 mph minimum over Honiton which is very good even if with only 10 on. This would be equivalent to 11 in old stock and my best minimum on the ACE was 37 mph from memory

Sean Day-Lewis author of the Book "Bulleid - Last Giant of Steam" passed away last month and his funeral was held on 1st July. Here the crew of 35028 whistle a tribute to Sean at the site of Seaton JCT station, near Musbury, where Sean lived when he was a boy. (Not my video).

Even time for the last hour as they pass Yatton. Great stuff.
