If that is the case why is the SR operating under such conditions. Can't be making money. Check out the images of Bournemouth(and i suspect any coastal resort). Some roads impassable and green spaces overwhelmed i am sure some, like myself, have seen a cardio Dr. What do they do.
Advise you to change your habits
prescribe remedial medications for blocked or constricted arteries
SR/DC has an arterial bypass built and (almost) ready for use,run some appropriate units Wareham to Swanage and make it showcase,
...and if the heat wave continues does that foretell of ambitions unrealised for 2023 on the SR?

I’ve no idea why the SR have chosen to operate today rather than pull the plug.

Meanwhile, this heatwave is exceptional and plenty of larger organisations than the SR are having to change their plans completely - near me, the ECML will be shut tomorrow.

But those are emergency responses to special circumstances. What I don’t understand is how the Swanage branch will be protected by taking on more costs and responsibilities that evidence already shows are unlikely to generate extra income with which to pay for them. That’s how businesses go bust, as do charities chasing grants from government bodies that don’t have money to give them.

I also see from RTT that the Weymouth line is being operated in two parts today and tomorrow. Waterloo to Bournemouth and Bournemouth to Weymouth, I assume in some attempt to achieve some form of robustness in the service at this end which is on a hourly basis these two days.
Monday on the SR is always a quiet day and hence the Blue timetable today would have been operated anyway (in a more temperate climate) by steam.

As indeed you do with regard to your continual moaning about the Bird's Nest buffet and various Swanage projects. <BJ>

Tell me of The Birds Nest. Doth it Prosper?. When you alienate people from your home base town its time for a rethink. My long term bet is that it willl return to Swanage in some guise!

Moaning?? That is a UK tradition well remarked upon by all who have left the shores of Blighty!(Daily Telegraph November 2008) and particularly prevalent amongst railwayacs.(
I will be happy to see that the BNB is prospering although until we see the figures "reports" have to be discounted.
    To the carriage sheds!!
Do "reports" say that it is still systems go?

I find it more prevalent amongst those who left, and who remain frozen in the world they knew at the time they left.

I am also of the category that believes that, occasionally, it is justified for a company to dismiss it's customers. As, for example, when those customers generate very limited income while making it harder for the company to sell to people who'd like to purchase from them. Or, for example, who demand that certain things be done without ever considering the implications of those choices on the viability of that business. Or, for example, who quote surveys approvingly without any analysis of whether the people who don't want a service to stop ever actually purchase that service - a bit like we saw with the Beeching Axe, when so many people protested about the loss of services that they never used and never would use.

Still, I guess from Canada, the conversion of a characterful station into a single platform with a small bus shelter is no loss.

I am now getting some slight entertainment from the continuing responses to posts from Mr Ignored; speculating about what his latest nonsense was that they are responding to, and about why they are continuing to waste their time.

Ditto, but I have little doubt that the speculation is infinitely more entertaining than the reality.

What one’s going to Swanage? Is it permanent or just for Diesel Gala?

I hope not. It used to be a third class vehicle and it does annoy me when railways charge extra for experiance back in the past it was available to people paying the normal fare.

Paying extra for Car No 14 and the first class compartments in the Bulleid CK yes. But paying extra for third opens.... no...

Some/many fares were increased from 18th July I believe.

Why not milk it? Every extra £ you can make at the moment’s going to come in useful.
    And Diesel cranks are fickle…
