No we don’t … Just a transition between numbering sequences, and when the loco was re absorbed, there was no reason to number it other than the lowest suitable number.

Adams 488 ended up as 30583 by way of No. 5!

It's already been covered in a very detailed book - whose title escapes me at the moment.

“Waddon” in Canada was SECR No. 751 for a while …

So how comes those which went on holiday to the IoW jumped back into sequence? The Radials I get .... and that was by BR anyway (as for the Beattie 0298 survivors and GWR 1213).

Well Did wonder that myself, as according to Locomotives of the L.B.&S.C.R. Part 1 by D. L. Bradley, Fenchurch entered traffic on the 7th of September...

Why the fixation with a date in July?

Is that so? Then clearly this locomotive has a personality of its own and so maybe it will only allow itself to be ready when it knows that the right time has been reached. :)

The BR scheme for SR Duplicates was a nod to the LSW system. They all took vacant numbers from scrapped T3 and X2 4-4-0's. And, no doubt by the same sturdy traditionalist, the USA tanks took numbers of T1 0-4-4T's.

I see on the railway's Goods Division Facebook page that the railway is possibly involving Stanegate restorations for some of its projects. Given the ambitions in the Long Term Plan are quite extensive this seems a sensible way of ticking a few more off the list. I wonder what they'll pick, not much to go on in the photos unless you know, one coved roof is clear, the rest are arcs.

Have just caught the front end of the Hall (with what looked like a few tea caddies and water bottles left on the front running boards) vanishing off the Bluebell SP webcam. Has the 09 failed and been replaced by a steam engine today after all?

I saw that one of them looked like the SER Saloon, and another possibly one of the Craven vehicles, but I not 100%.

How much the photos indicate intent, and how much is something of a tour I don’t know, but the interior shots look like SER 1st saloon No. 172 looks like one of them being looked at. If so that makes sense as that would be the proposed 1st class vehicle in an SECR set; all the surviving LCDR vehicles being 3rds. That vehicle is a very rare surviving ex-SER vehicle.

    This is really interesting.
of the other vehicles seen, they definitely do not include one of the Cravens, which are either roofless, or flat-packed, but the other arc-roof carriage seen, the one with the casement window insert, would be the SER luggage brake 3rd of uncertain number, the one with the central Birdcage, which came from Pagham.
So it looks as if the visit had a distinct SER slant to it, and I have to say if this goes ahead, they would be two deliciously unusual additions to the fleet.

In the latest Bluebell News it has a picture of Ian Wright receiving his award for "Fifty years of service to our locomotive department ( and bad joke telling )."

https://www.bluebell-railway.com/terrier-150/ still says "the big celebration will be to see Fenchurch in all her glory" (which we have heard on here is no longer true) and "A downloadable programme of activities and displays will be available on the website nearer to the event". That's now only nine days away and the programme is not linked from that page. Is it available?

The timetable could have done with a little more proof reading as on Saturday the Q hauls 3 consecutive departures from SP the the Hall 3 from EG.
