Thanks. Sorry - missed that. Not impressed that the BP web site is wrong about the journey - for that money I would expect them to be on top of that sort of thing.

Despite the high class clientele you shouldn't look at their web site in too much detail.

Things I'm talking about include an image of Black 5 45379. Not certain what that has to do with the British Pullman in 2022.
And then there is the 'steam hauled locomotive' phrase. Can live with 'steam hauled' or 'steam hauled train' but....

I think the Dover route will now become the norm for the lunchtime Belmond. It’s a much better and longer trip, the Surrey Hills spent around an hour in total standing still.

Yep. The customer knows best and that's definitely the case at this level of expenditure for lunch on the move. :)

I agree there, spending 20 minutes at Longhedge Junction washing down the last of the champagne looking at one of the least salubrious parts of SW London is not ideal.

The publicity shoot for Belmond took place at Ropley quite a few years ago and it appears from the picture on the website that 45379 was just caught in the background of one of the shots.

Yes - a "steam-hauled locomotive" suggests a form of double-heading! Very poor for a 'prestige' brand. Another would-be prestige brand (Northern Belle) talks of the 1930s and 40s having "rock stars"! [IMG]

Not accidental I imagine. Most Belmond passengers won't care/recognise which steam loco appears in the blurb.

There's a problem with Clan Line at the moment. Statement taken from the MNLPS Facebook page. However, it's probably a moot point as the steam ban is still in place.

But many do take an interest and ask about 35028 at the start and the end of the Belmond trips. That's over and above taking selfies with 35028 and sometimes the crew.

    Cheers, Neil

Undoubtedly, but are they interested in '28 specifically, or just the steam loco and its crew at the front?

The steam loco at the front that happens to be 28. Most want to know about it and it’s history, we give out quite a few leaflets while it awaits departure or after arrival

14th September Pullman train has disappeared from the MNLPS website. Still listed as being steam hauled on the Belmond website even though I can’t think of another steam locomotive that could do it. Next date shown on the MNLPS website is the 29th October.

My understanding also is that it will be steam but not Clan Line. I guess that it all hinges on whether the Royal Duchy passes off uneventfully.

Could it also be 45596 "Bahamas"?

No it’s not capable of working airbraked trains, it’s not registered with DBC and would be overloaded with those heavy Pullmans. Also the support crew have now gone back home!
