Not if you want to drive there, Part of the planning conditions I believe.

You can start there, but there is no parking - so to get there you need to arrive under your own power, or by public transport, taxi etc.

There was, (is it still there Tom?) a car park about a mile away off Vowels Road, but I could not find it looking on the Google satellite view just now.
Must be over 10 years since I drove down that road.
The field next to the station always looked good for landing a hot air balloon, I guess that would class as public transport:)

From the url a few posts back:

"A downloadable programme of activities and displays will be available on the website nearer to the event and will include a timetable for free vintage bus trips between Kingscote Station and East Grinstead Station."

If the photo is to be believed, the bus will be a green RT .... always worth a diversion in their own right IMHO. :)

    Thank you.

I planning to go to Fenchurch event on that Saturday but the earliest I can get there is about 5 minutes after the first train. So I'm wondering if I'm insane enough to get a taxi from East Grinstead to Kingscote and catch the 11am train which starts from there.

I didn't notice that at first tbh. But it does seem that a proof reader is obviously needed. Sure mistakes happen but it seems to happen a lot on the timetables. But I would certainly say that 30541 will be sticking on A set and 6989 on B. I see if I can forward them the error.

The carpark now had a barrier and keypad with a notice to only enter if you have the code, since it is required to enter and exit. The carpark was apparently more popular in the evenings and at night, hence the reason for its closure.

FYI Timetable has since been updated slightly with correct edits to the rostering on Saturday.

Don’t think it will be the four wheelers.

I haven’t seen the carriage diagrams but at a guess, I suspect it might be:

Set A - Maunsells and Bulleids
    Set B - Mark 1s
    Set C - Pre-grouping SR carriages
    Set D - Mets

We’ll see when the STN comes out next week.

All the right carriages, but not necessarily in the right sets. Shades of Eric Morecambe..... :)

I suppose it's too late to point out it might have been easier just to swap A & B / C & D?

Speaking from experience, you can proof read a timetable yourself and also get at least half a dozen other people to do so, and an error you've all missed will still be pointed out within 5 minutes of the timetable going public!

That is an oversight of which I should've remembered and known.

In other news - News about this years Beer and Music Festival at the Bluebell have emerged and even though I am not a beer enthusiast myself, it does look a fantastic event. Proved popular last year in mid-September when the event was introduced. Beer Festival 2022 - Bluebell Railway in Sussex (bluebell-railway.com)

6989 is booked back in service this weekend with 541 and 65 also rostered following some recent maintenance work. (Usual caveats etc etc)
