There is more truth in that statement Tom than perhaps you are aware of. R761 actually derailed on the diamond crossing taking it over the standard gauge line as it was going to the loco depot. From the looks of it it has tried to go along the standard gauge line. The cause was deemed to be a track fault following a renewal earlier in the week.

This picture, taken two days earlier, might help to illustrate the scene. All lines in view are broad gauge except for the road that 3801 is standing on, with the diamond crossing on which R761 derailed just in front of the 38.

Maybe R761 was trying to preempt sister R766 which has now been gauge converted and has recently started working on the standard gauge NSW system.

I know what you mean and of the locus there only 41241 (on the single coach) remains on the railway

 

I'm sure that I can see 52044 and Do226 in there as well as 41241.

My nephew knows the difference between a Hall and a 31!
In all seriousness Harold our kid knew it was a 31 but was rather interested to know why ‘466 was in EWS red.
