High winds I think not! Are they forgoing the turning move and servicing at Stratford instead, then reversing at Hatton on the return run? They got into Stratford just as they were scheduled to leave, surely a quick drop off of the pax and they'd only be 10 or so down?

What i'm being told is that 46100 will be dragged back on the return as NR are saying the steam ban still applies in the midlands

the Shakespeare at the weekend was under some specific instructions I beleive

So is the diesel leading all the way back to Crewe? Is it being towed backwards all the way or will the diesel run around at Hatton?

So did it not contravene the ban on the outward journey then?
This year seems more confusing than most.

Despite being late and downhill the Scot was doing all the work through Dorridge. It's a confusing one...

It depends I guess on who is communicating and who is checking . since most the working is just a box on a screen what is leading it is perhaps less likely to be checked . It is the vigilant person who spots things that shouldn't be out .

I would have expected the TOC to be aware if there was a steam ban in place before the tour departed.
Although as airline pilots still manage to land at the wrong airport from time to time with all the nav aids they have, perhaps I expect too much.

one tour last year set off and travelled some distance before it was spotted there was no control cover in place . the who and why isn't relevant but it demonstrates these things happen

The LSL FB page says the outward delay was due to cable theft, nothing about the return trip.

RTT says 1709 dep from platform 1, it doesn't specify what will be leading.

With it being a 60mph schedule and the maximum speed for towing a Steam locomotive backwards like this also being 60mph, it makes perfect sense operationally (and prevents turning moves once back at base) for them to just drag it backwards.
