I thought about going to that spot, but given that it was timed for morning light I opted for the road bridge instead (ahead of the day). In the event the rain and cloud meant that light direction was of no consequence and any light at all would have been an improvement over that 'summer' gloom. (A bit like this morning here, really. Wet and windy with 100% overcast).

I've got a feeling that might be the first time an A3 crossed that bridge under its own power. I know A4s have on specials, and there were 4 A3s scrapped at North Blyth (40,51,83 & 84), but they were long past their last fire.

I went there once for 71000, through to the other side of the track near Briery Hill Farm (Edit. Actually Netherton Park Farm). Bridge camera at the time, so not at all impressed with my results, but a nice place. April 2008

The diesel shunter to the right in the second picture is of interest to me as it doesn't look like an 08 - is it one of the LMS engines?
