Such a shame for Chris Beet, driving your own loco over the S&C on a beautiful day and she fails. Let's hope that the problem is readily fixable. Well done to WCRC (and NR) for sorting out assistance so promptly; only 12L away from Hellifield and 1L into York. I wonder if the 47 and Leander returned via Blackburn to help speed up the loco changes at Hellifield.

A busy few days coming up for 10A; Tues - Pendle Dalesman, Thurs - Dalesman, Sat - CME, Tues - Welsh Mountaineer. With no Galatea or 8F perhaps 45690 might have picked up one of those turns (and fingers crossed still might). So shared between BIL and SG, unless Tangmere fancies a trip to Wales?!

Would a Bulleid be gauged (or in gauge) for Blaenau?

Would a Pacific be suitable to go to Blaenau? That one has to be Mr Kelly and the Scot. But Tangmere might be OK for Holyhead.

Not good timing ; are superheater problems a quick fix?

Not a serious suggestion, although it might have been fun. I doubt if anyone has even contemplated asking for Tangmere to be gauged for the line. I agree SG would be best suited to the challenge.

As for the superheater issue, all the way from a dodgy joint on the header or a "pin prick" in one element to something much more serious - a quick fix to a "big job". Good luck to Leander's minders and I'm sure that she will be repaired and available asap.

I would be grateful if anyone travelling on today's Waverley can record, then post a time for the climb from Ormside to the Aisgill summit sign. I am keeping a record of all posted times for the year. [Pleases see post #63 on the "WCRC Scarborough Spa/Dalesman/Spirit of the Lakes/normal tours 2022" thread for full details.]
Thanks in anticipation and enjoy. Remember, "Oswald needs YOUR time!"

Thanks for the time, of those posted so far this year it is: the 9th fastest overall but the 2nd fastest "pure steam" time by 46115. Might there be an account of the day's proceedings? (he asked cheekily).
