I hope (and have a funny feeling it won't) come to this. Has PR been contacted and do they want it?

Peak Rail have been informed of the sale and have been given first refusal.

I must stress that if no buyer is found by the end of May then it will be either cut up on site or offered to one of many local scrap yards!

Maybe Sheringham would want it, having it's Midland pedigree

They're obviously not up to speed on current scrap prices!

Rather than scrap the footbridge, why not consider it for use at Hammersmith, Butterley, or Swanwick? It is a Midland artefact after all.

I don't it would work at Swanwick as I think they have one for the station.
but Butterley would be good, may be able to scrape a lotto grant

Re: Midland Railway Footbridge, ex Darley Dale.

As I said in the original post an offer around £1000 would be ideal. I have spoke to other railways and this does not seem to much of a problem.

There is nowhere on our line thats suitable for it. Hammersmith is just a run round with a platform, no point in putting building ups there warranting a footbridge when eveything just gets trashed by vandals. Butterley has never had a footbridge, it had a foot crossing at the end of the platform originally. Swanwick already has the overspan erected, just waiting for the steps to be manufactured now.

Over the past weekend I have contacted every major railway in the country and there has been quite a bit of interest.

With the interest we've had I don't think we'll end up scrapping it, but as I said in the original post, if no buyers are found then we will chop it up as its sat at butterley for 20 years rotting. We need the space its taking up.

Should be interesting to see where it goes (if its sold) do you know what the space is for.

The short term plan would be for staff parking, long term would be a building of some sort.

    Hi, Just a quick update.

The chances of us scrapping it are pretty much non existant considering the amount of interested we have had. Means I don't need to spend my holiday playing with gas. \:D/

I see it's been sold, are you allowed to say?
Is it someone (or railway) we would know?

Slightly confused - i was under the impression that the key date was the 30th May and the decision was being made on that day - has this all changed?

Hi Woody. Talk to young Ben at the gaslamps farm on Saturday and all may be revealed.

Well I closed bidding early as there was only one interested party by early May.

As to who bought it, well, its up to them to say. Its for me to know and for you to wonder until they make any announcements.
