Pathfinder now use WCRC as its TOC rather than DBC. Though saying that the society are aiming to work with LSL, Vintage Trains, DBC and WCRC during their next period of operation which would make it the first engine registered with all 4 TOCS since LSL and Vintage Trains became TOCS. I know that 6233 was meant to work with LSL (sadly now cancelled as mentioned on another thorum) but 6233 has hardly done any DBC operations and I’m not sure if it’s still registered with them or not. 6024 worked a majority of the time with DBC on its last ticket although how much work DBC do with it on this next ticket remains to be seen.

Sam, shall we just wait and see what happens?
We’ll find out in due course.
On a personal level though I’m rather interested to see how 6024 gets on with its new cylinders, aren’t we getting on for it being nearly a 100 years old?

Centenary in 2030. The interesting thing for me is the further reduction in height. I’m not sure exactly what locations they hope to go to that they couldn’t before although I heard Canterbury mentioned which isn’t surprising given that 60103 went there in March when previously it couldn’t.

I donot think that there has been any further height reductions ,
only width with the new cylinders.

If you've only heard it from my post, please don't read anything into it. I have no connection with 6024 or Pathfinder and have no idea what destinations might be in the pipeline when 6024 is ready to return to the big railway. All I know is that (i) Bristol is likely to be its operating base and (ii) the claim was made that with the new cylinders it should be as gauge friendly as a Merchant Navy. I was merely pointing out that a visit to Kent would prove whether that claim stacks up because apart from HS1, it is one of the most gauge-unfriendly parts of the country. Still, it obviously isn't quite as tight as we were led to believe. Not only did 60103 pay a visit in March of this year but Bahamas has also visited the county twice. Living only about 10 miles from Kent as the crow flies, I'd be delighted to see 6024 down here in the South East, but whether this will happen, I have no idea. Time only will tell.

I would like to thank all of those who have worked to achieve this. I have very happy memories of a trip from Bristol to Kingswear with my younger son behind the loco. The return run down Whiteball was especially memorable. I filmed some video from the carriage window but the video camera did not like the near 80mph slipstream and never worked again

A similar thing happened with Charles Rous-Marten’s stopwatch, but he was doing 100mph at the time…

Been watching some of the Torbay express videos this evening. A reminder of how fantastic King Edward 1 is on the Riviera route and what many of us have too look forward too. Thrilled too see the photo of the recent steam test.

It's taken over 10 years to see her in steam again but it's been well worth the wait.

Congratulations to all concerned. I can't wait to see her passing along the south Devon coastline once again. <BJ>

I think there was an article about Pathfinder in Trackside magazine, which suggested they would be using 6024, but presumably as part of Jeremy Hosking's collection, the loco could appear on Saphos and Steam Dreams charters.

Although isn't the loco expected to be looked after by members of it's previous ownership, that have been undertaking the overhaul so maybe the loco will be operated in a different way?

Fantastic achievement. Would it be churlish to enquire as to current axle load restrictions on the WSR?

Congrats to all indeed, 10 years, bloody hell has it been that long!

I think she is ultimately owned within the Royal Scot Trust (along with 46100/70000/60532 (along with the 2x MN's) so assume that it will be operators under the LSL banner who will be using her inn the main, plus I cannot see any other TOC getting their dibs on her.

DBC expect to be able to use her. UK Railtours are hoping to be able to promote tours with it.

Vintage trains have used her considerably in past years, would be nice to see her used again by them, but I suspect LSL will have first choice given their investment.

Not wanting to stir things but wasn’t there a bit of a disagreement between 6024’s then owners, (who believe have custodianship for the next 10 years or so?) Tyseley, someone inbetween and a very expensive court case?
    It’s very murky.
