You can’t use a hosepipe to fill a hot tub unless it is for medical treatment purposes. The local authorities should know where this applies. You can fill it with buckets if you really want to.

I would have thought filling the buckets with water would be more useful. ;):D

Not a hole to match the size of the leaks on the national network, I suspect.

Once it was an inconvenience that could be ignored. Nowadays with about 20% going down the drain and that figure on the rise it's almost a scandal.

In which case, this article by Robert Colville is quite interesting on the relationship between water company performance and government policy - https://capx.co/knee-jerk-nationalisers-have-no-idea-how-the-water-industry-actually-works/

I didn't suggest it was going to be impartial. But that doesn't mean it's not worth reading, or that the analysis is automatically false.

I've just done that. According to the Daily Express, if a hot tub is seen as a bath it is not restricted. However, under the 1991 Act there is a restricted condition which is: "Draw water or use a hosepipe for domestic recreational use." It would no doubt require a test case to establish whether filling a hot tub was for domestic recreational or bathing use but if I had a hot tub, I'd not be inclined to fill it with a hosepipe (or buckets.)

I was thinking that the electricity need to run a hot tub would make them fairly prohibitive for most these days, but then again I suppose it's not to difficult keeping the water at temperature when it's 35C ambient.

Sorry, I rather think that I may be loosing the plot here, What on earth have hot tubs got to do with heritage railways?

They don’t. Its just a bit of thread drift because I commented about being allowed to fill one with a hosepipe.

Steam is also back on the Bluebell, running the full length of the line. It's absolutely chucking it down here in Sussex. We've had more rain in the last four hours than in the entire of the previous month. The Spa Valley intends to use steam tomorrow (How convenient to have held the line's diesel gala last weekend!) Hopefully, the Kent & East Sussex Railway, the third line within a 20-mile radius of my home, will be able to bring steam back on Monday as planned after today's deluge.

Thunder going like the clappers on the coast a few miles south of you. Steady, if not unduly heavy rain. Hope the Bluebell's timetable is holding up better than that of Thameslink today. Some problem at London Bridge, I gather.
