    The things time changes !
Construction of Fiddlers Ferry power station started in 1964 so it's not inconceivable a shot similar to this may just have been possible before the end of steam. Seeing a similar picture of a modern train recently reminded me I should record this scene before the power station is demolished. (Giving myself a good kick for the number of chances I've had to do it with steam over the last 20 years or so).
Had this not been the final Fellsman of the year I may not have bothered on what was an overcast humid morning but who knows whether the trains will run this way next year.

After a very enjoyable Tuesday (a trip on the Pendle Dalesman), Wednesday was a a bit busy, and it was raining in the morning - I stayed home. The evening was another kettle of fish, dry, warm (19C), no breeze - Oswald went to Wilpshire, Mrs W stayed home, the train driver had roast beef . . . (stop now, Oswald!). To Clitheroe end of the station where I met a fellow passenger on Tuesday's trip who regularly records video on and around the station. He told me that he enjoyed his trip so much that he intends to travel again. At the far end of the station was Philip (with his ipad) who was also travelling on the train with his mum. He looks about 9 or 10 and videos every train that he sees. He was on the footplate of 46115 at Carlisle complete with ipad.

The train left Clitheroe 2E and was due at the station around 19.03, and it arrived 1E, heralded by a clear crisp exhaust beat. There was some white exhaust in the cool of the evening. THE Scot sounded spot on as she worked towards the station before heading past and on to a good turnout gathered on the platforms and overbridge. The crew waved as they headed towards the summit, the diesel passed by (not doing much) and as it reached the far end of the platform, Philip gestured for the driver to sound his horn, which he did. 46100 continued working up and over the summit before shutting off and the train drifted down the hill before curving away towards Blackburn. A good way to spend a late summer's evening and back home in time for Corrie.

Thanks for that, appreciated. Being a new member and with the quality of other stills and videos posted on here, l was a bit wary.

Does anyone know what happened between Chester and Crewe on the return?
2' L from Chester, but 45' Late Arrival.
The first train showing delays was 1K72 1826 Holyhead - Crewe between Beeston and Crewe so it was outside LSL control.

    Thanks, Neil

Correct me if I'm wrong but both locos that were based on the West Somerset have made their way back to Crewe due to the single runs to Shrewsbury the last few weeks.
Kingswear on Sept 3rd. No loco path except the main train on the day from Crewe. Diesel day?

Photo from Dawlish Warren earlier today as Britannia eased its way out from the station and round the curve at Red rock. Diesel on the rear appeared to be doing very little.
