    How serious is 828's failure?

An excellent day at the Spa Valley today. Highlight of the day was a lovely chat with "Jock" Adams while riding in the Queen Mary brake behind 34092.

A few photos from my visit on Saturday, a very good event with frequent services all running to time.

The shot of the thumper in mid section brought some memories back. That's how I remember the line in BR says (except they were 3 car sets!). Thanks for sharing. :)

This is my favourite photo, it is so perfect, a true Southern gem.
Fingers crossed a similar sort of thing happens at their 30th Anniversary. :D
I will definitely attend (Hopefully Southern will be more trustworthy by then). ;)

I think the problems less concern those operators with 'Southern' in their name than 'Railway', or 'Trains'. It's all a bit of a pickle right now ....... :Pompus:

How do I start a post without using the phrase’s of ‘Nice to see’ or ‘Very pleased to see’?
I’ll just go all in in fluent Black Country! There’s some bosters of that Standard fower thing in theyre my mon! ;)
Seriously those last 2 of 75069 under the lights, really look the Mutts, thanks for sharing.

You could keep it simple and just use the phrase 'lovely old job '....

I agree. The Standard 4 is a nice looking loco and in its time on the network was a good work horse and not just on local services.

I had 75069 on a local in the Southampton area but they were no slouch if pressed into something more demanding. 75078 once took me out of Waterloo in the rush hour with a ten coach train and kept time down to Woking. Wound us up to the mid sixties.

75069 definitely looked fantastic. First time I'd ever seen her in daylight, only time I ever had previously was when I was about 6 stood with my Dad on the footbridge at Horley on a December evening as she flew through up the Brighton Main Line. Although I was sort of into all this then, it probably really sparked my interest in a big way.

It’s not an old job though is it? There’s a reason it says ‘rebuilt Bridgnorth 2018’ on its one side ;):)

All my childhood main line steam memories were either 75069 or 34027 around Sussex in the early 1990s, then later on 828, 30777 & 73096. So it was very nice to see 75069 back on the Southern, the short stretch running right line on the main line down from Birchden Junction to Eridge behind 75069 was great. Really superb day Monday, such a great line, there is something about the shorter lines sometimes that is better, never really felt we were missing anything wherever we were so had a couple of great round trips and plenty of time filming. Huge thanks to all involved as always! My photos and video...

Well, after some number crunching... This event wasn't about making enormous sums of money, it was to showcase what we could do and for our own members and volunteers to enjoy their railway and celebrate the years of hard work they've put in since the line was preserved in the 1980s.

However, we are delighted to say that 1,583 people visited us to enjoy the sights and sounds of these magnificent locomotives through the High Weald and despite the large costs involved in staging the event it still turned over a healthy 5-figure profit which is the icing on the 25th Anniversary cake!

Thank you everyone, please do keep sending us your photos (photographs@spavalleyrailway.co.uk) and tag @spavalleyofficial in your Instagram stories so we can share them to our own feed. If you post to our Facebook page we will share your photos too so keep them coming.

I hear it a fair old bit here in 31A but as I say @Jonnie I ‘bay from round these parts!’
In all seriousness I’m very pleased with how things are going for you and your team.
Keep doing what your doing, because your doing something right :)

They do have the center trailer car 60616, which is under restoration at Tunbridge Wells. Interesting to see the unit number is now painted on driving trailer 60910.

In addition 60616 is a gem of a survivor being the only 207 centre car left. With the Spa Valley's 207 2-car set having been better treated and more regularly used than several other 207's in preservation, I can think of no better custodians to recreate the full 3-car configuration!

I agree he Spa's DEMU is a credit to the railway, that's a bit unfair on the owners of the other units. The one which was at the ELR now has owners who want to work on it. The other was in regular use until it got torched.
