Think its more important they resolve the issues, from other posts by the trust, they lost their place in the queue for the paintshop.
Would expect it to be after NYMR gala, repairs permitting, they still await parts.
And, a big diesel, 55022, would be next you would assume, getting ready for late september railtour.

Approached by the British agents for the Kylchap as to wether he would buy more Gresley said not while the patent was still in force and indicated that he intended to fit it generally after it expired. Certainly one thing that Thompson did was to fit it to his Pacifics. When they were fitted to the A4s without them and it was a success the program was extended to some A3s and a handful of The Green Arrows but that was not until the 1950s.

This is perhaps not to answer your question quite directly but there was a favourable background to Kylchaps on the LNER. The Kylchap fitted to the Gresley "Hush Hush" as a four cylinder compound with the high pressure Yarrow boiler basically solved the steaming problems and enabled successful trials to be run, as far as the Hush Hush was concerned these showed that the A3s had so improved with higher boiler pressure and long lap valves that high pressure etc. was not worth it but it did convincingly demonstrate the advantages of the Kylchap all derived from lower back pressure & especially at moderate rates of working.

    I do like this photo:
60007 Sir Nigel Gresley catches the lowering sun's glint beautifully as she hurtles past the site of Forteviot station with a Glasgow - Aberdeen 3-hour express on August 29th 1964.

Yes they are Matt, likely installed by the Caledonian, the lattice posts were common on the line between Stirling and Perth.
Only the boxes at Greenloaning, Blackford and Auchterarder remain open with the latter (as far as I know) being the only one to still have lattice posts after the much photographed BK9 at Blackford was removed a few years back as part of the work to create the Highland Spring loading facility.
I do hope 60007 will get to Scotland sometime.

oops - always forget Hilton Jct where two short lattice posts are on the junction bracket in the cutting.

An unusual photograph..but in my mind a superb composition...very pleasing to my eye...though.

Nothing to do with 60007 I know, but here is said signal, BK9, looking in better shape with Green Arrow stood by it in 1987 as 37048 passes by with a typical period freight. At least the V2 is a Gresley loco. 87-6-19 28 37048 4771 Blackford copy.jpg

Will they actually run it on Monday, given that absolutely everything else is being shut down?

From SNG Facebook page this evening.

I am pleased to report that today Sir Nigel Gresley passed a full steam test. A test run will precede the movement to Grosmont on Tuesday ready for the NYMR Gala 22-24 Sept and special trains in October. Thanks must go to the SNGLT engineering team for their big effort to keep the program on schedule and also thanks to LSL for the support we have had from their boilersmiths.

Test run over the weekend? Without wanting to sound crass Monday might not be a bad day to do it with it not exactly being a normal Monday?
As I say, I’m not wanting to sound Crass or disrespectful.

Really rather creditable of real times trains to have it.

A few years ago one could not count on this sort of extra working on any of the sites like this - I can recall opentraintimes.com seeming to be the best and being thoroughly glad of them despite main line specials typically appearing one way only!

Test runs are booked for Monday, then keep the loco in steam ready for the move on Tuesday.

Sir Nigel Gresley is out on a test run today, paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth with 'The Elizabethan' headboard and a special wreath:

In weather as sombre as the day 4498 passes Beeston Castle on the return from Chester. Presumably with an adverse signal at Beeston and Tarporley the regulator is closed.

The second run was announced on RTT as cancelled.
