It may not have been confirmed, ie contracts signed until yesterday meaning it missed the EP publishing date.

Something narrow gauge? I bought the latest Trackside yesterday which was obviously printed some days before then. It states "up to three guest engines" and predicted 9351 plus a third guest to handle the local trains "likely to be an 0-6-0 tank locomotive". Trackside is partnering with the SVR to produce a souvenir programme so it is presumably more than just idle speculation on their part.

Still seems a bit poor in the comms department at a time when communication is key within the SVR and the wider movement. I fail to believe an agreement wasn't in the final stages where it could be announced where the ink will have dried. Its a steam locomotive, not the Iran Nuclear treaty.

Poplar has been about on the gala circuit this year but I'd also seriously look at Fenchurch if its ready in time.

Poplar mangled its connecting rods at the Bluebell last month so might be out of action for a while. Fenchurch is still in bits and the gala is only a month away - I'm not sure the Bluebell would risk sending it away so soon.

Fenchurch is where it belongs. Plenty for it to do when it is back in service, imo.

Speculation on my part but I think guest 4 is narrow gauge for the line at Highley.

Small 0-6-0 to work locals - doesn’t have to be exBR, 7714 is visiting the PBR for their gala, perhaps one of theirs will make the journey the other way? Jessie for example could work locals and would be a type never to have operated on the SVR.

Weather permitting, I take it (he said, hoping like hell for some steady rain ahead of the main downpour) ?

Seems optimistic to me, just 10 miles away from Bridgnorth it's rained for less than 15 minutes here in the whole of today with little forecast until tomorrow evening. Even if the promised thunderstorm materialises the ground is unlikely to absorb much given the depth to which it has dried out. I can vouch for that having spent part of the afternoon pulling out dead plants from the garden with roots having spread little from the planted rootball and they were planted long before the first heatwave .

The internal and public announcements don't say so, so I take it that's a definite definite

Why do I hear John LeMesurier's Sgt.Wilson .... "Do you think that's wise?".

Oh well, fingers crossed for some decent rain then.

Take 3 - A spate of lineside fires on land adjoining the Severn Valley Railway has prompted the decision to return to heritage diesel-hauled services ONLY, with effect from Wednesday 31st August until Friday 2nd September

The forecast for the weekend and into next week is wet so fingers crossed it actually is.
Kidderminster had rain Wednesday/Thursday gone, Bridgnorth apparently did not.

55009 is rostered for one of the diesel turns tomorrow. I think a day on the Valley might be on the cards. :)

Visited the SVR last Saturday, (3/9), first time for a long time, and not sure what to expect given the cost of living crisis and so-on.

In fact found the railway very well supported. I was on the first train out of Kidderminster behind Taw Valley (still in purple) and this train was pretty much full.

Bridgnorth was busy, as was Highley for the Engine House. The other two services that passed en-route were also well patronised. Haulage was a class 50 (Ark Royal) and the other service was a class 20.

Given stories of reduced patronage of Heritage lines, I found the level of activity at the SVR quite encouraging.

Revamped shed/works at Bridgnorth looks smart from the outside, hoping for it to be open for inspection soon. (actually featured in a brief item on BBC Midlands Today this morning. Very clean and shiny inside!)
