I acquired this book last week and looking at its condition I think it may be an original and not a reprint, has anyone any ideas as to how I can check its authenticity?

Looks to be the original 1912 publication. I don't recall it ever being reprinted.

If you look for one of the available book search sites; bookbinder.com for instance shows various ‘instant’
reprints available but only five ( all stated as ‘good’ ) copies of the 1912 edition priced £26 to £52.

Judging by the cover, unlikely to be reproduced like that in an ‘instant’ copy and the condition, you have
    a 1912 copy . But not a ‘good’ copy.
