I wonder what's up with the Duchess, looks like it was held outside of Totnes for a while and its now looks like its stuck in the centre road allowing other services to pass.

Well it looks like the 47 has been stopped at Riverside yard and is not in it’s scheduled path back to Bristol. Looks like the Duchess has got underway - just the torturous climb to Dainton from a standing start…

I hope they don’t break it, it’s due to do a prestige job on Wednesday. Looks like it got in trouble on Dainton, lost 19 minutes from Totnes

47 going on the front at Exeter. <BJ>

I'm not sure how true this is:
''Delayed due to fitting a replacement fire door & subsequently being held on the through road at Totnes to be regulated for other services''.

That seems a bit odd. Where do you source a Duchess fire door in deepest Devon?

It continues: ''Reported that the locomotive fire door had come off and fallen in the fire''. <BJ>

Be better to quote the source,
South West Rail gen, on behalf of Ben Broomfield
Reported that the locomotives fire door had come off and fallen in the fire.

Delayed due to fitting a replacement fire door & subsequently being held on the through road to be regulated for other services.

    Hope that helps :)

    Cheers,
    - Ben

Maybe they managed to retrieve it with the fire irons but I’m not sure how you would refit it with a hot fire

Isnt there a smaller thinner "baffle" plate behind the actual doors? That seems more likely to fall in the firebox rather than the big heavy doors??

Could be the deflector plate above the firehole. Not sure how you could fix that with a hot firebox.

Looks suspiciously like a railway employee with access to Control log is posting information onto enthusiast websites. Tut tut.

Here's my video of 6233 Duchess of Sutherland roaring up Whiteball, Dainton and Hemerdon with the Royal Duchy. I hope you enjoy the video.
