A farewell event for 30925 & 53808 no doubt as their boiler tickets run out later this year.
Hoping I might be able to make it to my first Gala since 2020.

Is that not more to do with the fact that it’s right at the end of the runway of Southampton airport?

Apologies for the error in my previous post. I read in several places that the ticket runs out in Autumn 2022.

Is 53808 staying at the MHR or will it be returning to the WSR? I'm hoping the former...

I think its been established, especially since a lot of the other exhibits from Washford have now come to the MHR too, that this is 53808's home now...

The S&DJRT/WSR joint statement when it left for the MHR was one.

Potential for another Kilmersdon-esque 12 month turn around? The new cylinder block has made good progress already and the rest of the loco isn’t exactly heavily used in Dave’s duties.

Drones: how to fly them safely and legally - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
    Essentially your responsibilities are:

    • to know how to fly your drone safely, and do so within the law
    • to understand that the operator is legally responsible for every flight
    • to keep your drone in sight at all times and stay below 400ft
    • not to fly your drone over a congested area, never fly within 50 metres of a person, vehicle or building not under your control
    • ensure any images you obtain using the drone do not break privacy laws
    • avoiding collisions, you should never fly a drone near an airport or close to aircraft. It is a criminal offence to endanger the safety of an aircraft in flight.
Railways including Heritage lines fall within this part of the legislation. Network Rail are very hot on this and only allow drones to be used for business purposes under strict guidelines. All non approved commercial activity is reported to BTP. As already stated, written permission is required to fly over the MHR property and I would suggest all other Heritage Lines as well.

HRA guidance essentially echoes that. Railways should only permit authorised users to fly over the railway and should ensure that risk assessments and insurances are adequate.

That’s good news though it’s getting very tired and ‘rough at the front end’ according to its regular driver. It doesn’t respond to being pushed too hard but keeps time nicely with a nice beat. One of my all time favourite locos

53808 is the main reason I will be visiting. Due to a number of reasons (mainly to do with health issues) over the last couple of years I have been unable to visit the MHR since 53808 has become a resident of the Ropley fleet. Very eager to get back to the Hampshire Alps. Also hope to get several trips in behind 30925.

It has a regular driver? Is there only a limited pool of crews that get rostered on it or does one driver happen to be rostered on it most days it's running?
