Nord Super Pacific 3.1280 (SNCF 231C78) based at Oignies, a few miles south of Lille. Loco is being restored for operation, though I'm not sure how far they've got at present. It looks like the loco has possibly steamed and the top half is done, but the bottom end doesn't look like it's been touched.

What it's like on the footplate of a QJ Class 2-10-2 going over the legendary Jingpeng Pass:

 

Two of my school friends and 'spotting' companions with 46235 'City of Birmingham' at Crewe North mpd during a 'Northern Railfans Club' shed bash in 1963.
I kept in touch with the lad on the right, with all the badges on his anorak, but he sadly passed away a few years ago.
I believe the lad on the left is still around but I've not seen him now for well over 50 years.

 

Well, wnat a coincidence!
This morning I bumped into a relative of the lad on the left .... and he's still with us, just moved home and living somewhere around Garstang.
