I'd sat there for best part of five hours Ralph waiting to do 'Britannia' and as it approached there was an approaching noise from behind me, honestly couldn't believe my luck, jammy yes but the first time ever

I bet that goes a long way to making up for all the other times when the noise behind was a service train just waiting to block your shot.

    Brilliant timing and images, Shep.

It's remarkable that approximately 4 hours after passing each other at Dent, the two trains crossed again south of Lancaster. Not bad 54 years on from 'the end'!

    On our way home !

At least the rain stopped long enough - 34046 at Madeley in Staffordshire, after taking over the train at Chester.

Braunton racing back down the WCML tonight in the rain at Apsley. Also includes footage from Tuesday's northbound leg at the same location...
