It still might not run if the strike action goes ahead that day .

Isn't it some (but not all) TOC's ASLEF staff who are on strike on the 1st? That shouldn't affect a West Coast operation.

Ah, I hadn't picked up on that - news is dominated by other things at present, seemingly to the exclusion of everything else. Thanks

Yes...and why not? It is also keeping at bay some of the junk that the media thinks we should know about but I guess that's a 'wind me up' thread comment.

Sorry Al - I never meant to ruffle anybodys feathers. I was just explaining why I had just missed a piece of interesting/significant railway news because of the current events. No criticism intended.

Agreed. Very moving and a magnificent spectacle at the same time. The drummer who beat out the pace of the slow march must have aching arms after that. Bet there's a few blisters inside those boots too.

I watched with my son, as he was very interested in the music in the service (as well as singing, he plays trumpet). What I didn't expect was for him to be absolutely rapt at the procession from the Abbey to the Wellington Memorial - following the music closely, but also the drill with a sharp eye (he's a CCF (RAF) cadet too), picking up a load of stuff that I'd missed completely.

I watched as a rank amateur and was completely in awe of the personnel taking part in the processions.

WCRC are asking those booked on the tour if they would still be prepared to travel if it was delayed to Sunday 2nd Oct.
Just a contingency at the moment but as of yesterday, it was still planned for Saturday 1st Oct
