Yes to both. Small increase in clearance and crash protection bars.

Sadly yet another video that I find unwatchable because of the intrusive "music". Why don't they save themselves the bother of inserting it?

Probably because you are the only person who seems to have an issue with it

Also, are you really saying you'd rather listen to the constant "HNNNGGGGRRRR" of diggers but randomly varying in pitch and timbre as shots change than you would music? Or have complete silence when the narrator isn't saying anything?

Fine with me - construction plant in action is music to my ears, and complete silence or minimal sound done in the right way (e.g. when captions and/or animations are playing) can be a very effective video editing technique.

I'd much prefer either of those to utterly irrelevant music. I know most people either like the music or, more likely, are so inured to it that they barely notice it. I do sometimes put up with it, but only if the video is sufficiently interesting to me and the music isn't too loud.

No quite a few people hate intrusive music in videos, particularly the "professional" approach by having music to give atmosphere to speech i.e. helping it be unintelligible.

As someone living next to the described sound of heavy plant, I would rather the music every day of the week.

Well I'm just pleased that the job is being done and we are given a good overview in almost real time. Looking forward to seeing more over the next four weeks.

Maybe ‘they’ do it to wind you up, seriously how on earth can you find it intrusive? It's hardly like it’s an overpowering punk or dance track is it where you can hardly hear the narrator is it?

Here are a couple of pictures (with no sound) taken today showing prep work on the abutments.

Also the work at the other end of the embankment looks as though it was to make an easier route for diggers etc up to the top of the embankment rather than any attempt to infill the small gap

How did they get the digger onto the embankment north of the bridge? Did it cross the old bridge before demolition (it's clearly not as heavy as a Class 66 with a train of loaded Gypsum wagons) or is there another access available?

No it's not that bad. Just bad enough that I can't be bothered to watch.

I would expect they drove it over the bridge before demolition, the next access point is at the Lime sidings just south of Barnstone tunnel, but its a good drive from there to the worksite

I too was puzzled by this, but, if it went over the bridge, it would still be up on the North embankment. I suspect it probably went up via the Brush access road to the West of the embankment?

Well unless they have created a new access (and the embankment is both high and steep all the way upto the viaduct along that section) there is no other way on and nothing along the brush side.

I guess they could have driven back to the lime sidings, its just about 3.5km to get there!

If one person's criticism upsets you that badly, so be it. You could of course continue to post, with "music", for the benefit of those who don't mind it, or of course you could even try saving yourself the bother of dubbing it in.
    And BTW, Forum rule 7.4:

The mystery of the digger access is solved - it went across the old bridge......and is still up there.
It will stay until the new bridge is installed and then cross it to come down via the new bit of embankment by the MML bridge. It could have gone up and down to the North of the A60 bridge but that would have disturbed too much natural habitat....So I was told today.
They are still doing bits of work at the top of the abutments and there is an old crack in the brickwork that needs fixing. Then precast "caps" (15 tons each) will be put in place and the new bridge put in at the end of the month.
