A good idea would be to have a roster of the locos to be used. I would make a lot more time free to travel on the line (and hence spend money there) if I knew which loco was running.

This year looks good for the P+D though, they are definitly making the effort! =D>

Just found this on the P&DSR web site. http://www.pdsr.co.uk/section.php/70/1
Wondering what advance booking is all about, I'm hope it means booking tickets to travel in advance !
It does look like they are making a big effort with all the things listed, including double heading & goods(freight) trains. =D>
The only question I have is seeing both workshops are open (Paignton & Churston) are they going to do a day rover ticket like other lines do ?
As normally you can only get a return which means you wouldn't be able to split your journey & go to Churston workshops !
May be someone on here from the P&DSR, could answer that question about rover tickets.

I'm hoping to be there for the weekend.

I'm glad the 42's on I think I'll make an effort to go for a ride behind it - nothing like a bit of 2-8-0T thrash! =D>

Summer comes soonest in the South (West)! :D

Glorious sunshine in Dartmouth/Kingswear today, sea almost flat calm, it really feels like summer is on the way...

.. and with a piercing blast on the whistle as it approached Brittannia crossing, the first train of the year arrived too - 6 Mk1s and the Belle behind one of the tanks (couldn't see which one from where I am).

Brought a big smile to my face!

Yes, and a good year (hopefully) what with Tornado, a King, a Castle + other railtours no doubt, plus the Heritage weekend.
Lets hope the holiday makers choose Torbay instead of Torrimelinos for their holidays!

I was in the Churston area this morning making visits and had forgotten that today was the first day of running. I was at a premises adjacent to the track on the approach side to Churston station just before the loco eases off and was, therefore, able to see, hear and appreciate 4277 at work.

This combined with a glorious, almost summers day made the morning perfect.

Will normal return tickets be available and can you get off and catch a later train at Churston and Goodrington?
How much will these, if avilable, be and same with the rovers?

A standard return does allow you to get off at either Churston as I usually do and did quite a few times last year. I presume this also applies to Goodrington although I only did this once, but you can probably do both I would have thought, and so there shouldn't be a problem

4277 is facing Kingswear as I believe she was last year. Had a good trip behind 4277 but sounds diffrent to 5239 which is in the shed at Paignton. 7827 still in shed at Churston & 4MT with tender (less boiler) under road bridge.
On another note what have they done at Paignton Station booking office in middle not to left hand side as you go in but the queue was still out the door for the 10.30 ! As for the shop now very poor stock wise, if anybody goes there that's been before you'll see what I mean!

Yes i'd heard abotu the new booking office and the new floor?? Apparently Kingswear has a Bistro instead of a buffet too now Again??

If 75014 has been removed from the shed does this mean they are working on Lydham?? Or possibly just her yearly exam? Or something to do with those axles which needed "Attention"?
Also is 75014's boiler being "seen to" then if it is mysteriously absent??

As for 4277 sounding different to 5239 don't forget they are a slightly different class, also she has different Cylinders from 5239, and possibly a slighly different size??
