    Daft question time....

Is it absolutely necessary to take two support coaches?

Could one not be left say at BL for the duration and then be collected, or is it absolutely necessary to take everything in both support coaches? I'm sure they have been shared on other trips before, seems silly taking extra weight for the sake of it.

Surely the cage on the train guards van could be used to carry any extra equipment that would not fit in the one support?

Yes, because the engines are not working together for the whole return trip, each will require a support coach. The support coach for each engine will contain spares and tools for each particular engine incase something goes wrong. Plus on these trips the support coaches often double up as sleeping accommodation for the crews.

Hmmmm, whilst I accept crew accomodation, fair enough but isn't the castle taking Cromwell's support coach to Plymouth whilst Cromwell does the PZ- Plymouth section without...

5029 / 70013 not visiting the WSR on 4th April due to the signal problems that occured today. Also means 4936 / 45231 stuck for a while or road move?

As far as I know, 70013 and 5029 will be overnighting at Westbury on Sat 4 April. 45231 is returning (today ?) by road to Bury, and 4936 is staying at the WSR for a bit until Network Rail mends its signal cables.

Wondering the same, though it would make sense for 5029 at least to use the same path as far as Didcot.

one must remember that all steam loco's are old ladys they are given lots of T.L.C. and must pass a fittness to run test before going on main
line a hot box can happen at any time what ever the loco even the new A1 had one so dont just knock g.w.r. loco's [-X

Granted but at least 6024 had the fortune not to be out on the Mainline at the time.
