So a lot of very annoyed passengers from far and wide.

We're booked on the Jacobite next Thursday, 18th August. All of the Scotrail services have been removed from RTT, however as it stands both Jacobites are shown as running.

I assume it's only a matter of time before these are formally cancelled, I can't see how they can run during the strike.

If the strike is ASLEF then as long as other staff are working, ie signallers, then there is nothing to stop the Jacobites running but don't take my word for it, check with WCR.

If the strike goes ahead then Banavie signalling center will be unmanned and the canal bridge will be left swung for canal traffic. No way for the Jacobite to operate on RMT strike days. If negotiations are on going then the service will not be cancelled untill NR say it cannot run. But contact WCR about Thursday if you want to reschedule to a non strike threatened day.

That was my understanding too, I was just surprised that Scotrail had already proactively cancelled everything leaving only the Jacobite runs in the schedule.

    https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...22-08-18/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

We're on quite a tight schedule in our motorhome travelling an extended NC500, so on this occasion we'll just have to find something else to do in the Fort William area on Thursday.

The difference being that Scotrail have many RMT staff who will be on strike that day whereas WCR would be working normally if that were possible. It is for NR to cancel the workings if WCR are not to carry the cost burden of the cancellation

No ScotRail staff will be on strike that day. No ScotRail grade in the RMT Union have been balloted for strike action, let alone returned a vote.

Any ScotRail staff rostered out for Thursday and Saturday will be turning up to their booking on location as per normal, just in areas North of the Central Belt there will be no trains for them to operate.

Thanks for the correction. Shouldn't really respond to posts when I'm on holiday from railways for a few days.

The Jacobite, filmed between 6th and 9th September - featuring all three Black Fives - on Beasdale Bank and between Arisaig and Mallaig.

Thanks Henry, they are doing yes. So in a few weeks it could be quite spectacular.

Anyway, sorted the video footage out now so here's some from 4 days last week.

Does anyone know the formation of the ECS on 30th October? Is it steam on the front of diesel piloted?

Two page centre spread of the train crossing Glenfinnan Viaduct in the Guardian today. The colours look superb even on newsprint.

The ECS on Sunday ran with no diesel just two Black 5s and ten. Does anyone know the reason 45407 failed at Lockerbie? It’s normally one of the most reliable locos on the mainline.
There was a strike on Saturday and no trains ran but somehow the sleeper got through.

I've heard 45407 failed with a hot big end, no idea if that's true however
