Thank you Pete. I hadn't got my head around all that profile stuff and was unsure what 'start a conversation' actually meant, i.e. with whom exactly? Thanks again for the explanation.

Interesting. Thanks for that. Is 'Southern Section' used to mean that section beyond immediate aspirations (BG)?

I assume/believe they mean everything south of the proposed new station at Whistlandpound, in effect Phase 3.

I prefer proper nouns. It is far less potentially misleading.
Besides which, I can never remember which abbreviation is what

Lazy of me. My preferred method is to spell things out 1sr time around and indicate any abbreviation(s) I'll be using subsequently, e.g. Woody Bay (WB), Tan-y-Grisiau (T-y-G), Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (doesn't crop up too often)

Of course, if responding to a post which has introduced one already .....

It's a pity that it couldn't be held as a hybrid meeting so that members who live some distance away could attend.

One might also have thought that EA shareholders could have been invited to attend as observers.

I think most EA Shareholders are L&BR menbers. Why would they not be when you consider the purpose of EA?

It happens - I joined EA before the Trust because I was prompted to get involved by the Bratton Fleming station purchase - I joined the Trust later. Inclusive and open seems to be by far the best approach to me.

One aspect of an 'arms length' organisation formed to conduct complex negotiations covered by areas of the law most of us lot will likely only glance alongside when selling or buying our homes, is that those amongst us more given to the rail related aspects of heritage railways (i.e. 99% of us .... with the possible exception of bakers of tasty cakes) can be eternally glad we don't have to worry about such things.

The flipside is that those, who for whatever reason, find the challenges of conveyancing, the UK tax system, property laws and access rights have somewhere to indulge their interest, unencumbered by oily sweaty steam fanatics or camera wielding gricers, with the exception of AGMs! :)

It's those damned solicitors, and sketchy records, I hear.
They were hopeful of some news a couple of weeks ago, but that's a treat we still have before us.

Ever heard the tale of the Nant Gwernol extension? The only thing making putting a 19½ mile railway back together much harder is the absence of contiguous lengths of rail. If you think record keeping was hit and miss in Devon in the mid 20th century, spare a thought through trying to work out who owned what, passed down from a century earlier in an area where English wasn't the more common language at the time the line was built.
