Brave to keep the strong telephoto on for the pass - it worked, though. Nice scenes, and the chime whistle is a spine-tingler.

An A4 at Peterborough - such memories! Thanks to all who did the photography and filming. Having watched the tour pass myself, and after looking at the videos, it seems that SNG was allowed to do the work itself, apart from a shove out of Peterborough in the morning. That's really good news. As for the livery, it's very reminiscent of A4s in their final few years when they usually looked matt grey due to the muck.

Thank you! To be honest when I reviewed the footage I was amazed it wasn’t just usable but quite decent as my umbrella wasn’t really keeping much dry!!

Filthy is ok, filthy looks authentic. Trouble is black gets grey, patchy and washed out

If we are talking about pre 64, my recollection from the platform at KX is of clean 34A and 64B locos with 52A locos much more of a mixture. Is my memory playing tricks?

There is a timeline in a book I have that says when 'LNER' gave way to 'NE' whilst black, but both were carried.

No, that is also my recollection, although they were not as clean as some contemporary mainline steam locomotives.

I notice from the SD website that the Santa specials for 14th and 16th December have disappeared, including the runs with 60007/4498 on the 14th. The same applies to the evening trips around the Surrey hills. Does this mean they are fully booked and have been removed for that reason, or cancelled, do people think? It seems to much of a coincidence that these two days would happen to have all trips (day-time and evening) fully booked, so I'm guessing they are cancelled.

I'm booked on the evening trip on the 14th (was meant to be Gresley, then was Mayflower and eventually 45231) the email I received said that they would be in touch if anything was to occur with cancellation or whether it will run, still yet to receive that email.

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you but as everything has disappeared, I fear the worst.

That is correct 4498 carried 'LNER' on the tender in black until 8/8/43 when the present tender was attached with 'NE'.

Perhaps because the 13th, 14th and 16th, 17th are RMT strike days?

It would appear that they now only have Christmas excursions on the 19th and 21st on the website. No mention of the other dates anywhere on the SD site or any of the social media sites. Disappointing if they have been cancelled.
Edit: if you go on to the locomotive page of the SD website 60007 is now only working two Christmas excursions at the beginning of December. 45231 is not booked for any excursions at all according to the website which would suggest that the rest of the Christmas excursions are cancelled.

The trips 45231 is apparently doing are still down as 61306.

Cancelled due to the strikes. (Confirmation just received from Steam Dreams) The ones on 19th and 21st are still planned to run

I wonder how many of the other specials around the UK on those four days will be cancelled (that aren't already shown as such) as well.

All of them I imagine as they are RMT strike days.
