any chance of copper capped chimneys replacing the cast iron ones in the future so all locos can have the chimney numerals re-instated

There was a significant step forward in the cosmetic restoration of IMR No.5 Mona this week when the boiler and cab were returned to the frames. The boiler/smokebox had been painted and re-clad whilst in store in Port Erin carriage shed. Most of the missing fittings are available albeit mostly worn out cast offs from other locos! The photo shows the loco having been shunted back into Port St.Mary goods shed by P.E. shunter "The Sprout". Photo courtesy of IoMSRSA.

that’s getting harder and harder , wouldn’t it be nice if the replacement tanks were built with dummy patches to match the worn out ones? Some of them have been patched for so long it’s part of the character

Had the absolute pleasure in helping out at a new event on Saturday when our local Brass (Silver) Band chartered a train from Port Erin to Castletown and back, stopping at stations in between to play a selection of Carols. The event was a complete sell out, filling 5 carriages

Here's one photographed in June 1968. Not attached it seems this tank appears to have the nameplate for LOCH which was under overhaul a few yards away.

That would be a modelling challenge in any scale more so in 00n3 but a great photo all the same I don't suppose there is a photo of the other tank is there around that time?

The last few days have seen the Polar Express run three times daily using Santon as the North Pole. All these trains have been well sold. Wednesday and Thursday also sees a Fireman’s Brunch Dining train run out of Douglas as far as Castletown. After Thursday there is a short break for a few days and then the Seasonal Dining Services start again and run into the New Year.
thanks to Liam Miller for the photo

Here's the one on No 12 in May 1966 when the end of the Railway looked probable - hence the photograph.

Unfortunately the three dining trains scheduled to run in January 3and4 had to be cancelled due to the train sustaining damage after collision with a fallen tree on New Year’s Eve. No one was hurt fortunately and the evening proceeded as planned despite the damage and after assessment by those in charge. However the dining set will require some attention before it runs again. The loco was undamaged apart from some scratch marks to the paintwork and a crushed oil can. I had friends on board and they said that despite the mishap the evening was very enjoyable. The railways catering operations change hands on March 1st
