On the Welshpool and Llanfair, DL34 the big Taiwanese diesel, will be arriving in the Spring and I’d hope 699.01 should be entering traffic at some point in the year.

35028 being back in the land of the living!

With it scheduled work 12x Belmond circulars on the new route via Dover, plus there being 4 x Saphos "Golden Arrows", 9 x Steam Dreams "Garden of England Circulars" and RTC's "Kentish Belle"with 45596, those of us who live in or (as in my case) a few miles from Kent, can also look forward to what should be probably the steamiest year on the main line in that county since 1962.

    KESR:

After the appearance of a large can of Spam, the KESR will settle down back to it's stated aim to host every in ticket Bucket at once!

Meanwhile, back in the real world, it's hoped that 1638 will be back in the New Year, and that 30065 will reappear in the middle of the year. The 4253 guys are still hopeful of having her in steam next year, as the boiler is progressing well. D9504 should appear from possibly the largest overhaul it's ever had, though D2023 may well get withdrawn, as it needs similar treatment. Charwelton will, hopefully, come back to life, and be joined by Hastings.

As far as the Terriers are concerned, it's still a case of "watch this space" at present, I'm afraid.

That would be great news - I am unclear why there is a delay - it's 15 months since the Inquiry closed - it can't be much longer.

All very positive plans and thoughts from all parts of the Nation it seems which is good to read.
However I drive from West Sussex to Kent about once a week and I can not help noticing that Household Christmas Lights are few and far between this year as indeed they are on my local estate compared to last year. Is this due to the increase in Electricity tariffs I wonder and are households already tightening their collective belts. If relatively affluent areas of Chichester, Worthing, Lancing, Crowborough etc have taken this view what about the rest of the nation I wonder - son and daughter in law confirmed today its the same around Byfleet/Woking/Chertsey. It will indeed be very interesting to see how next years discretionary 'spends' by households on things like day trips, dining out etc pans out once Christmas and the New Year is over.
There will always be exceptions to the rule, but to answer the OPs question I suspect what we can look forward to next year is belt tightening and survival mode plans and budgets, not expansions and projects dependant on external funding.

At the risk of thread drift, maybe the reason that there are fewer Christmas lights in your area is that they have been nicked and put up on our estate! Far more here than in previous years!

Gobowen or Llynclys are both a long way off, apart from the unanswered question of the crossings, the p/way needs some serious work; much resleepering (there is a stretch of concrete sleepers on the Llynclys side) etc.

Should see 3802 and 7754 back in traffic.

9th September 2023 is 60 years since closure north of Bewdley, though I don’t know how they’ll commemorate it. They won’t have two resident panniers to re-enact the last train
