Mick and John have finished the ashpan damper mechanism; Mick is now working on the link to the whistle valve. I have just collected the firegrate supports from LMS, the grate castings are already in stock. Newtons report that the steel pipe sections have been bent to shape ready for welding; it turns out to be cost effective to order a pair as the steel stock pipe has just enough material for two.

Drip valves for the vacuum system are on order from LMS.

Our two latest Dapol 00 wagons are "Buggleskelly Industrial and Cooperative Wholesale Society" and "Hillhead Quarries Ltd", both are selling well.

I thought that the Buggleskelly wagons were only available via Tom Marshall?

Bagnall 2766 at the Bodmin and Wenford Railway on its last day of service before overhaul. Other than the ex Port of Par Bagnall 0-4-0 Judy the B and W now has to rely on hired engines.

Amazing- doesn't seem like 10 years since she came into traffic!

Seems to be a number of railways short on motive power this year- hope this isn't indicative if the future with railways scratching about and a relative shortage of available locos to hire!

Might be because its been 5, it came into traffic in 2017 apparently. And the question of available hire locomotives is certainly a big one in the post COVID world.

Buggleskelly Wagons: We have designed and commissioned most of these, and I am pleased to supply Tom Marshall, who uses them to raise money for charity. PM me if you are interested. There are five designs currently available.

    Hi,

Does anyone have, or know of a pattern for an Austerity blast pipe?

    Alex.

Talk to the guys who did 49 at Tanfield - they made a new fabricated one, and I think it's been very satisfactory.

Following the withdrawal of a purchaser Bagnall 2962, ex Devonport Dockyard No 19, is now back on the market . Anyone interested should contact the Bodmin and Wenford Railway.

The Northampton and Lamport have purchased Hunslet Austerity 3193 (latterly at Bressingham), 6 years left on the ticket.

Great news for them, should be well suited to the line.

I saw reports of crane tank Glenfield departing Ribble Steam Railway and tried to find out where it was going, but no luck.
RSR Facebook reports "Ribble has a vast collection of vintage engines of all kinds including industrial. Crane tank 'Glenfield' built by Andrew Barclay & Son in 1902 works No.880 is seen here spending it's final few hours at the railway before leaving for pastures new. The actual crane was removed from the locomotive yesterday to ease transportation. "
There is also a Twitter report from Lancs Road Police
"This abnormal load seen M6 south. Taken to Cuerden for checks. The trailer was found to have 2x defective tyres and defective brakes. Trailer prohibited. It was also being moved outside its movement order, paperwork issued to the driver."
The abnormal load was Glenfield! Looks like it's going to be delayed getting to it's new home. Anyone know where it's new home is going to be?

Was Glenfield the one that was stored amongst a bunch of vases in Oswestry? Its been up for sale for a while, curious to see where it goes (once the trailer is road legal).

    Good Afternoon all,
    Just came upon your discussion.
Just for your information, it did indeed leave Ribble Steam Railway at Preston Docks late morning yesterday, heading for its new home at "Statfold Barn"
    https://www.statfold.com/
(The loco crane jib was removed on a previous day by a Hiab wagon, and departed on that day as a separate move).

Afraid I can't tell you if the loco is now privately owned or Statfold themselves whom have purchased it, but I was told it is going on 'Static Display' for the time being, but who knows for the future.
It appears to be substantially together and complete, but I'm sure future inspection will determine what's what.

Having been in storage at RSR since 2015 on behalf of its private owners, unfortunately the family circumstances put the loco up for sale a couple of years ago.

Very much wish the new owners at Statfold Barn the enjoy this historic piece of history, and would love to see it at least partly operational in the future if they can :)

It seems to have moved around quite a bit. It was at Oswestry from 7/2003 to 7/2006. Has also spent time at Statfold and Chasewater. lets hope it gets a bit more tlc at it's new home when it eventually gets there.
