    That sounds about right Peter.
Interesting how it’s turned out to be a bit of an urban legend though :)

Looking at the news announcement on FB 99% of the comments seem to be about the livery rather than the fact that the GCR has secured itself another locomotive

There does seem to have been a bit of a thing on late 19thC GWR for running 0-6-0ST with the rear rods off as 0-4-2T for passenger work. Dare one suggest that if a 9F was run with foremost and aftmost rods off as a 2-2-6-2 there would still be plenty of adhesion for preserved line passenger work and there would be fair amount less friction and drag on curves?

Didn’t some Terriers run as 2-4-0’s?

Needless to say I'm just glad that it will be available for many more years to pull our "Lengthy train" of Windcutter wagons..and I like it in green or black! :)

So it should be out in the new livery for the Winter Gala 27th-29th Jan - without the silly name too :)

Unpopular opinion. I liked the Brunswick Green. But 92214 in black will be welcoming to see considering the green started to look a bit...."shabby" in places. I believe its ticket is up in 2024.

Saw a video on YouTube the other say where the paint job seemed faded. Personally I quite liked the equally unauthentic lined black look it had at the NYMR, but should make a fine sight on the Windcutters.

The brunswick green paint job had definitely discoloured, 6990 appears to be going the same way unfortunately.

Great to see this loco has a positive future. It was restored from Barry condition by a group at the midland railway centre and I recall following their restoration updates on a website about it. It then seemed to get sold shortly after it was completed. Are any of the original group that restored it still involved with it ?

One person is at present working on the long term restoration of S&DRHT loco 92207. The loco will eventually move to Midsomer Norton. <BJ>

See that happening with many locos in this color.

The restoration of this loco started at Peak Rail Buxton site, many of us on Buxton site were shareholders.
The loco moved away when it became clear that restoration at Buxton was a step too far. But we had a lot of fun along the way and the main shareholder, Phil B, took all the light hearted ribbing very well.

As I recall, 92212 left Barry in September 1979 and went to GCR at Loughborough whilst 92214 followed in October 1980 to Buxton, then to the MRC at Butterley. I thought that it was 92219 that was also extracted in 1985 for Peak Rail, then at Buxton? This latter engine is still looking ex-Barry at Wensleydale Railway afaik.

The GCR Loughborough are very good at running 9Fs as they used to look - uncleaned and more 'grime' then Black. 92203 and 92212 ran in 1990's in weathered look.
