What ever you do, don't send the Duke Dog to Didcot, before its even uncoupled from the shunter, someone will be saying, we can use the frames , to recreate a Duke, the boiler can go towards a Kruger,

As @Dan Hill said. (I had a list culled from Klaus Marx' book, but that was the only reference I could find, having just been back through it). In on a technicality, I guess!

I'm sure those agitating for the Mets to go elsewhere on grounds of purity would be welcome to discuss the matter with the team that spent £40,000 and countless thousands of hours restoring the set! ;)

Have they no idea that these coaches, along with the 4/6 wheelers are the reason why the Bluebell is so renowned?!!
Honestly, you would have thought these sort of people would have respect for such antiques like the Cheshams/Vintage coaches, those were the coaches that were around in the early days of the railways, before All Mod Cons were invented.

If you don't have respect for any of those coaches, then you really CANNOT call yourself an enthusiast!

    1. What's a Kruger?
    2. If 9017 [and 75027] were to go anywhere, it should be Llangollen, it is the ancestral home of Welsh standard gauge steam. :p

As we are also on this discussion, the LNWR Dock Tank [in my view] should it move, would be great for the East Lancs, build up there collection of vintage LMS traction. ;)

Rope someone like Tom Hardy in for support and get him to have a word with them, I’m sure in his best Cockney Gangster style he could ‘persuade’ those who wish to see the back of them to change their minds ;)

If you date Earl of Berkley usng her frames, she was 54 years old when she arrived at The Bluebell nearly 61 years ago, so she has spent more of her life there than anywhere else.

From Klaus Marx's book page 114 he states " Until the Eastbourne electrification in 1935 there used to be a 1.51pm Eastbourne to London Bridge via Haywards Heath and East Grinstead regulary worked by Baltic or Pacific tanks , and on very rare ocassions by a ' Schools Class'.

Of interest on the following page he mentions 21C101 Exeter worked the 12.3pm Victoria to Brighton on its first day in traffic, though they were later prohibted from the single track section until 1953.

Very interesting. Being somewhat old school I still tend to think of the Bluebell as the old single line south of HK. The double line from Copyhold Junction to EG almost seemed to be a diferent line back in the day (complete with greater axle loading). But I acknowledge that that is my mistake:(
