For 250k I would rebuild the down platform and put the canopy back on the station building at Oswestry.

£250,000 - I really haven’t a clue so I’d have to appoint consultants to do an Options Analysis, which might lead to a Preliminary Scoping (or even Feasibility) Study if the budget stretched far enough. Not forgetting lunch.

 

I would use it as a kick-start to fund raise for the restoration of the most elegant engine I know, good old 488.

My preferred option would be to put it towards a replica of WHR 0-6-4ST Beddgelert, it will probably never happen, but I can dream!

 

It might be nice to recreate the HL 060 "Hecate" which was too heavy for the old KESR, and ended up I believe as a shunter at Nine Elms goods. The modern version of the KESR would have no problem with the weight.

I was thinking about KESR too. Possibly recreating a Shefflex set or a paired car to go with the Ford Railcar and put it into service.

Nice thought, but the replica currently present at Tenterden is a scaled down version of the original.

 

Create a 1:1 Shefflex and couple it to the scaled down Ford, and although this is utterly, utterly wrong it’d not be out of place.
