Good work by a lot of people - I hope the Volunteers Open Day on the 26th goes well.

 

Thank you Phil for your kind comments. Last year’s open day resulted in increased membership, and around 6 new regular volunteers. Most of these joined the mid week carriage restoration team, which has resulted in the rapid progress being made on the BSO. I would be very pleased if we could gain a similar (or higher!) number from Sunday’s event. As a railway with a small volunteer workforce, it makes such a massive difference to what we are able to do.

We had a fantastic volunteer open day on Sunday. Both tours were well supported and we had 12 new members join us on the day. A number of these have already contacted me for a date for when they can have their induction session, and start volunteering.

I hope that everyone had a great Easter break. We reopened this weekend, and it was great to welcome back the public to our railway.

We have started an appeal to buy a new boiler for our (possibly) unique narrow steam tram, which hasn’t steamed since 2019. We are looking to raise £25,000 to be able to get it back up and running again.

As you know, we are only a small railway, without the draw and publicity that some of the bigger heritage railways can command and unfortunately, our voice is not always not heard by the wider public, despite our best efforts! If you could help us, either by making a donation and/or sharing our appeal, I would be very grateful. The steam tram is a popular attraction with our visitors, and tells a great story, one which we would like to continue for years to come. Thank you
