Thousands of children in parties of 200 a day visited the London North Eastern Railway Museum, York, where they were shown over types of engines. These Yorkshire schoolboys in the photograph are sitting on the tender of one of the new L.N.E.R. engines while the driver gives a practical demonstration of how he handles the controls - 1933.

Selling tickets for footplate rides then finding your seat is in the tender on the coal is a little disappointing, but exciting nevertheless! P1040113.JPG

Well they may all look the same, but is anybody bothered? A small portion of the admiring crowds at Didcot this weekend for the gathering of the Castles IMG_7145 copy.jpg

I have to say what an enjoyable day it was.

This is myself and my father being allowed to be silly buggers by the footplate crew on 091o7 on the brake van rides around Bewdley station yesterday (2/4/23).
