That someone, was Swanrails admin for the Facebook site. You can surmise as much as you like, but Swanrail volunteers will take no part.

I never mentioned Swanrail volunteers (I'm curious how you can speak for all of them or even know who they are on here). I also didn't surmise anything. I don't think trying to shut down discussion is effective or helpful and only the mods acting on behalf of the owner of nat-pres can decide what gets edited or shut down. The Swanrail admin can shut down discussion on that Facebook page, but it won't stop anyone from discussing it elsewhere on Facebook or anywhere else

Sorry Keith, what I was saying, non Swanrail people can discuss the matter, but the three line whip is out, for us volunteers.

I think the point that was being made was that anyone with an official role on SR will be bound by their code of conduct. It would be unwise of anyone with an official role to make any public statement that could affect any prosecution. If a prosecution were to fail due to information provided by a volunteer or member of the railway it would quite possibly invalidate the insurance policy - and therefore cost SR a significant sum in repairing and re-refurbishing any affected stock.
It would therefore be a very brave SR volunteer who offered any opinion on a matter that seems to be still under police investigation, and therefore subject to potential prosecution. Such strictures would apply to any public forum. That a SR admin on facebook has reminded people of this, the reality is that any discussion by SR staff or volunteers should be, quite rightly, shut down.
(Incidentally, for a court case to collapse could turn on a technicality - and I have known cases where even 'anonymous' comments in public fora that have been contextualised as coming from someone with a direct connection have lead to a case being not brought forward for prosecution)

I understand CCTV surveillance has been handed to Dorset Police so hopefully that might help trace the culprits.

Maybe the 10H shed code plate gives it away not being a Bournemouth loco. IMG_0695.JPG

I wonder when it will be possible to buy through tickets. I've just tried both the NR website and the SWR website and neither of those recognises Swanage as a destination.

What’s the rationale behind using a 3-car 117 and a 121? Will it run as a 4-car set on a single diagram? If not that’s very uneven.

The idea is it will run as a 3 car, with a fourth car being added to increase capacity where necessary. Also there will be a total of 3 power cars, 3 driving cars and 2 guards vans. So there can be an element of mixing and matching to create a working unit, in the event of failure of any individual cars.

Yes will always run as a single diagram.

On that subject, can anyone local advise if the 3-car 117 is correctly formed again ready for the initial Wareham services? Recent pictures show a reformed 117+117+121 set in operation.

As Gladiator says, the 117 is back together, formed of W51356(Swanage), W59486 & W51388. She has been running in that configuration since around 27th Jan.

Thanks for the information. I have booked accommodation specifically to ride this unit, something I've wanted to do since it was overhauled but I've been waiting for the trial Wareham service to start in order to "kill two birds with one stone" as it were.

Has anyone ever contacted the railway directly got a response?

Taking 80104's advice I wrote a letter asking about the status of the carriage shed and other projects and my dislike at the lack of communication.

I sent it in January and still haven't got a response.

I have contacted the railway by email on a couple of occasions and the response has been forthcoming within a reasonable amount of time. I cant say it was speedy but as the issues were not urgent it was still acceptable.
