Anyone putting together a consortium, perhaps to run on Rheilffordd Lyn Tegid as they are extending?

Probably too wide for the platforms. One for Lynbarn to get excited about about though! ;)

Does the TR need a new project?

Too wide for the TR as well (outside frames).

Nothing a gas axe, a new et of frames and a few years of rearranging wouldn't put right! To my eyes, at least, it already looks a bit like No. 7!

You'd need new driving wheels as well, unless the existing ones have crankpin bosses cast in them (unlikely).

They are quite chunky machines compared to a lot of UK 2ft industrials. Basically a 2ft 6in loco with the wheels moved in. In the annoying category of being too large for the little lines but too small for the big ones.

It would probably work well somewhere like South Tynedale or Woody Bay.

Is it big enough for the WLLR? Would have thought (I don't know) that it's a bit on the small side for them. How does it compare to the ex-Bowaters locos that have visited there in the past? I don't think (again, I don't know for sure) that any of them have really showed potential as regular day to day locos for the line.

Possibly a bit of ambiguity possible here, when 'WLLR?' was quoted does that mean Welshpool or West Lancs?

I was referring to the Welshpool, as would have been obvious to anyone reading - I don't think any locos from Sittingbourne have ever run on the West Lancs! Can't be sure about that post nI was responding to, though, equally obviously!

Sorry I am causing confusion now! I should have clarified that I was referring to the previous post to yours.

I imagine that people were confused as to why the W&L, which has a long queue of its own waiting to be restored, would want a small, derelict loco of a different gauge.

Well, the suggestion wasn't posed by me, but I did question whether it would be big enough for the (for the sake of clarity) Welshpool & Llanfair - although if one reads the advert it sounds as though restoration work is well advanced and it could be finished relatively quickly.

I have heard from the seller and also have several photos of the work that has been done so far. There is not a lot of work still to do and I can supply details if anyone is interested in joining a consortium to buy the loco.
So far, the following has been done:
Frames cleaned and painted to a high standard.
New smokebox floor welded into frames
    Wheel bearings scraped and refitted
    Hornguides shimmed and aligned
Crank/coupling rod bearing scraped. The rolling frame moved with two people pushing it.
New driving wheel tyres carried out at Statfold Barn
    Springs and parts renewed/fitted
    Newbrake shoes and linkage remanufactured
    Cylinders rebored
    New pistons rings and rods
    Pony truck overhauled
New pony truck horn castings (and pattern)

Boilier work completed by Hatch Heritage at Swindon under supervision of Dave Wothers
    New welded inner box
    New skirts added to outer
    New firetubes
New safety valve springs to original pattern
    New manhole plugs

Asking price is £95K, so about £5K each for a group of 20 people. If anyone interested please contact me directly.

Why not advertise it on the L&BR Facebook page, we will need another working steam loco, do you happen to have any details of the technical side of things i.e. driving wheel size, Cyl diameter and stroke, Boiler pressure and finally approx. Weight.

Should have also asked what the length, width and height of the loco is.

That is not a bad price when you consider the price they want for those two wrecks in Kent.

I would not want this to run on the L&B, though we're considering the LBLR!

I have contacted the seller again for those details of the loco and also to see whether it is intended to be oil or coal/wood fired.
