It did rain horrendously with high winds, but by the time 70000 reached mp 18 1/2 at Prees station the rain at least had stopped.
I had envisaged a shot in the wet platforms but NR look to have recently installed new tactile safety treads, which are yellow and almost luminous.

I think the Salisbury one was to reverse into the bay platform at Salisbury, I assume for water. I suspect Hereford was also water.

Mick Kelly gives Peter Walker (I think) the thumbs up as 'Galatea'45699 (running as 'Sierra Leone/Alberta') gets ready to leave Wennington with ‘Scots Guardsman’

Wonderfully clear and sharp pictures, given the low light. What sort of camera are you using these days, David?

Expect the unexpected could sum up railway photography (even in these days of RTT et al). I had imagined Bahamas would be working away through Church Stretton ( better class of bus shelter here to get out of the biblical deluge Shropshire was experiencing), but none of it -the loco was slowing on the approach to the station -- a restriction maybe, no 45596 stopped in the platform for a pick up I think but I couldn't see from where I was.
So here we have the one coach Church Stretton stopper - the daffodils say it's spring the rain feels like November.

    Expect the unexpected - 2

Well, with the monsoon dictating a sheltered photo-spot, I opted for Shrewsbury station, but, I really should have gone for the soaked-to-the-skin option at Bayston Hill.......

The loco was scheduled to transit the station via the through road, but they put it on the back road.... Tish and Pish......

A quick run up platform 3 and I managed to grab this as "Bahamas" glided past the signal box under a brooding sky. Insult to injury - as I type this, the Sun has just arrived....

    Cheerz,

    Alan
