I think the following drivers were involved (but I'm writing this from memory, so apologies for any mistakes)...
Day 1 - Pete Roberts (to Reading), Ray Poole (from Reading)
    Day 2 - Ray Churchill (34067), Andy Taylor (70013)
    Day 3 - Bill Andrews
Day 4 - Gordon Hodgson (to Carlisle), John McCabe (from Carlisle)
Day 5 - Peter Walker (45231) and Bobby Duncan (45407)
Day 6 - Bobby Duncan (to Kyle), Peter Walker (from Kyle)
Day 7 - Peter Walker (45231 to Dundee, 45407 from Dundee), Bobby Duncan (45407 to Dundee)
Day 8 - Peter Walker (to Newcastle), Chris Cubitt (from Newcastle)

Not entirely sure who was firing what and when but I think Pete Hanson, John Hunt, John Fletcher, Frank Santrian, Rob Hawkins, Chris Birmingham, Ian Riley and a Scottish fireman (whose name unfortnately I've forgotten) were involved at various times.

That explains why 34067 was drowning out the Brit, certainly looks like WCRC used all if not damn near enough all their steam crews at some point for this one.

34067 drowned out 70013 because 67 is better.

Ohhh thats fighting talk... however I would like to point out that on 1T57, 70013 made the most impressive climbs of Bolton to Sough & Blackburn to Whilpshire that I have ever witnessed. The performance on the S&C was also notable for it's speed and apparent ease throughout the whole distance from Settle Junction to Ais Gill. 34067 has never produce similar performances on visits to this area.

I had just paid £63 on board when she ground to a halt at Oxenholme after popping a cork

The run thus far had promised much after 68 through Lancaster station.

34027 over Beattock a few years earlier was spectacular - for noise and speed

It would have been great to come sweeping down Grayrigg and take on Shap - but I wasn't interested in the tin box substitute and went home.

All very disappointing except that on catching a Vomiter back home I discovered a use for their loos. There was a team of little girls practising their carnival dancing in one.

I do seem to remember that an original condition Bulleid put in some of the very best performances of the steam locomotive trials of many years ago, in your part of the world Ralph! But with a regular SR driver I believe.
