That's odd, I was able to see both sets of photos earlier.

Looks like you're posting links to Google Images, which probably won't work. The easiest thing to do is download the photos you want to share to your computer or phone/tablet, and then use the 'upload a file' button beneath the message editing box on NatPres. You can’t just copy / paste pictures into a post.

Your laptop has ‘access’ to the photos where presumably we and your phone don’t.

it is strange that they worked this morning – did you change the post?

Looking forward to visiting later this year when I'm next in Wales. The repainted set looks brilliant and as the week I'm going includes 'Yellow' timetable days I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Sorry for tardy reply, doing some catching up of threads not read recently.
Two things occur to me upon reading this poster:
    1) the meaning of 'direct' has obviously changed over the years (even allowing for the asterisk).
    2) did boat trains really go from Euston? Or have they missed out a change?

(Irrelevant to the VoR, apologies! It's a line I last visited in, I think, 1991, so I shall go back to lurking. One day I will get back there.)

How is the Wales to the World project progressing converting the former MPD into the exhibition space? From what I have read about the project it seems a very exciting part of the program.

Making very good progress. New windows have been fitted in recent weeks and ths building is now getting towards the final stages of the build. It hasn't been a quick job, but huge progress is being made all the time. We are looking forward to having a display space open to the public before too long. It will also be able to be used as a function space.

How much of collection X will go there and how much is privately owned? Is the Manning Wardle looking loco part of the eccentric hoarders or yours? Do you know its works number? All seems a very strange story! Not condoning the bearded trespassing plonker but the story is out there now.

The "story" of Collection X is not new. If you go to https://www.rheidolrailway.co.uk/news/rheidol-review-vale-of-rheidol-railway-newsletter/ and select 'Rheidol Remembers', a special edition devoted to Peter Rampton, P21 on list the locos etc. in 'Collection X'. Rather than referring to Peter Rampton as "an eccentric hoarder" perhaps you should credit him with saving all these rare items which, without him, would undoubtedly have become 'razor blades' years ago. The new VoR museum building (now v. close to completion - I was there last week) will enable many of the items in 'Collection X' to be seen by the public for the first time. Peter has been criticized for not allowing all and sundry to view the collection but it must be remembered that he did allow visitors at one time and had to stop these due to incidents of trespass and theft.

While visits where not encouraged a friend of mind did manage to go and take some measurement for a loco kit he ended up making, but he was told that he should not reveal what else he had seen. Personally I found when I wrote to Peter about his involvement with heritage railways he was very up front with his answers to me.

His biggest disappointment that I could work out was that he could never get North Devon Council (as it was) to allow him to build a new railway at Blackmoor on the old Lynton and Barnstaple Railway in Devon. I guess that is why I find that part of the L&BR History so interesting which is full of what if, it had happen! Could we have seen Collection X in North Devon 50 years ago? We may never know now.

But one thing is for sure if it had happen then I doubt if we would have had the Laucston Steam Railway.
