No it has the correct diamond shaped ones now. The Hunslet plates are on display in the Ingrow Museum. Unfortunately I never saw it working in BR, just secreted away at the back of Edgerley shed awaiting funds to buy it.

Was this when it was the Bahamas (Stockport) Locomotive Society?

Yes it came back from Hunslet. I’m not sure how long it carried it. I think the name change happened as the Stockport connection receded into history. It’s obviously a lot more than Bahamas now as you will know if you’ve visited Ingrow or in the old days Dinting

Apologies with the first attempt - too big.

The sun was shining - Hooray! There was a cool, blustery north east wind - Boo! A wind that carried the beautiful sounds of a hard working Jubilee towards Ramsgreave & Wilpshire station - Hooray! Mrs W had accompanied me - Hooray! (Mrs W was still outraged that in last night's football the referee had failed to spot a blatant handball that resulted in Coventry scoring an equalising "goal" in the last minute of stoppage time - BOO! BOO! BOO!).

At this time in the evening, traffic was heavy but we had allowed plenty of time and arrived at a deserted station. We chose both ends of the platform, me at the Blackburn end and Mrs W at the Clitheroe end. Once set up, a check on RTT revealed that the train had already passed thro' Clitheroe 8E and was predicted to arrive (with us) at 18.14; it actually arrived at 18.07 (14E). The wind had been blustery up on the road bridge, blowing across the line; it was less so down on the platforms and blew along the line from the Clitheroe direction - "all the better to hear you with!" Leander was standing in for British India Line, a locomotive so quiet that, more than once, it had "sneaked up" on old Oswald. No such worries with a Jubilee, Leander announced her impending arrival more than a minute before she came into view.

The exhaust sound was magical, "hairs on the back of your neck moment" and was blown towards the station and concentrated by the steep sides of the tree-lined cutting and the road bridge. The noise grew louder, Leander appeared, louder still, a blue-grey exhaust blasting high into the sky. Bands of sunlight playing on the sides of the coaches, Leander drew level, a wave from the fireman (thanks) and off under the road bridge. Just as the wind had carried the sound towards the station, it now carried it away as Leander blasted the last couple of hundred yards to the summit. Once over the top, the regulator was closed and the train, in near silence, drifted down the hill, round the curve and off towards Blackburn.

Thursday is not a regular "steam day" around Blackburn and there were only 4 of us on the platform with another 5 or 6 late arrivals on the bridge - they missed a treat. 13C, 14E & 23mph. Despite Tuesday's problem I hope those on board are enjoying their trip and we hope to see you tomorrow.
