I can't answer for India (or its loco sheds) but when I lived in Rawalpindi many years ago the monsoon drain across the road from our bungalow was used as a public toilet (and unisex at that). Monsoon season meant that it got an annual flushing!

I can easily imagine - my dear wife was virtually born in a monsoon drain (fortunately dry at the time!)- her mother was accidentally pitched into one from a rickshaw accident in Malacca, the shock of which immediately induced her labour. A fairly unique way of entering the world!

 

Does anyone else on here remember the "Embassy" down the bank in Llanfair Caereinion yard? Once visited never forgotten!

I'm casting my vote right now to paint 257 in K&ESR blue.

 

Sadly, it looks as though 257 may well be sulking tomorrow, and Sapper will be taking her place for one day.

 

Apparently the raw power of Marcia ripped off 257's front headstock.

 

I understand that the offending spring has been replaced, after a journey to Swanage and back to collect it. The loco has been re-weighed, and should be back in service by this Saturday.
