Logistics and costs are the only things that have prevented me doing a GB trip and probably alas will do in the future.

 

....and in the same vein, here is the embodyment of a "Great Briton" - the train's maintenance magician, "Screwdriver" Dave Clarke, who has kept so many GB tours on the road over the years. One of the company's real unsung heros

Would this be the first Great Britain to feature an all LMS loco lineup?

 

...and all 4-6 -0's
... and( apart from a brief appearance by a Royal Scot ) all class 6 or under.

 

Probably not so much GBXV, as GB5X.....

Peter is it possible to create a "history" of screwdriver with the headboard?

All LMS locos . . . all 4-6-0s - not according to the local Blackburn newspaper

We also got smiles and a few shared laughs as dave walked throught our carriage.

 

I know it is late. Wanting to say thank you to 45596 personnel, West Coast and RYTC coming together to keep the middle section of the GB up to Scotland and back together.

 

I’ve just caught up with this thread. It was one hell of a commitment from an already exhausted support crew, most of what they do happens before and after the trip, rising at silly o’clock in the morning and going to bed at the same time. It’s worth reading the report in Trackside
