It seems to be a very successful business model and goes all over the place.
    Couple of examples here,

    "The Edinburgh Xmas Pullman".

    "The Yorkshire Coast Pullman".

I'm not sure if the "Pullman" is a protected name, after all they did have the original "Blue Pullman" train which was not the traditional Pullman stock.

Paid a license fee - Pullman was nationalised, don't forget, so it's part of the legacy BR intellectual property.

I generally prefer my HSTs unbuffered but I do think a set of buffers would have given this more of the look of the original, and maybe break up all the blue. I think the shape of the front end gets a bit lost.

Shame it isn't an original Midland Pullman. I always like the look of them. There was a TV progam about it recently where the passengers and crew were filmed on a trip, part of a series, see here.
    Seemed a well organised operation

But - like the Manchester Pullmans - were Pullman carriages, even if not of the traditional build.

This was the Bristol Pullman. That light group would be difficult to add to that class 43 front though.

What exactly do you classify as a Pullman carriage though?

The current Midland Pullman is formed of Mk3s converted to Pullman spec internally. Couldn’t it it be argued that they are also Pullman carriages not of traditional build?

the interiors are pulman standard, this is the selling point, and of course the service will be very high also, bone china, attendants in uniform, that's what people are buying, of course it helps that the train can run at full line speeds when it needs to en-route to its designations, but most of the passengers would be more interested in whats being served up in front of them, unless your happening to be travelling over a very scenic bit of route,

It could. My point was that “traditional build” excludes some of the totally genuine BR era Pullman carriages, which used “non traditional” designs.

I am sure that the re modeled interiors are top notch and the MK3 is a really nice ride but does that make it a 'Pullman' coach ?
Most post 1930's and the BR stuff were purpose built as ' Pullmans' even if the ride on the blues was not as good as was hoped.
Having said that Pullman 'Bodies' were put on all kinds of existing stock especially in the early days...

And if we're being pedantic, they weren't built in suburban Chicago and assembled here. To me, Pullman is a level of service, decor and food. The livery could arguably be part of the package but the original Blue Pullman's took that idea out back.

I was informed it failed at Chester yesterday, and everyone had to be bussed back to St Albans! Anyone know if this is correct, and what the fault was?

Cancellation Code ML which is general vehicle faults , not suspension, couplings or brakes.

Fire associated with the batteries in one of the carriages led to Cheshire Fire and Rescue being called, full evacuation and cancellation.

Obviously wasn't that bad as the lot went back to Crewe ECS yesterday evening.

The original Pullman company in the US was brought by Bombedier in 1985, who did not do much with the name, now Alstom, so they and DfT/GBR could use the name for the new HS2 Zefiro based trains, but doubt it?.

LSL are taking bookings so have sorted problems. Following from the Cross Country HST railtour to Swanage did wonder if the Midland Pullman could visit Swanage in 2024, but LSL seem to use Paignton, perhaps due to train length?
