So do they have new tenants lined up to lease that part of the site currently occupied by the Museum?
If not, then how will forcing the closure be better value for the tax payer?

I've been told that the area occupied by the museum is wanted by the council for development into a technology park.

It’s reported locally that a land-owner, adjacent to Newquay Airport, has offered the Museum a 25-year lease for storage facilities which have been described as ‘ideal’ for housing the entire collection. No decision has been made public at the moment and the exact location being offered remains a secret.

Cornwall aviation museum blames council for leaving £1m plan for new site 'in tatters'
The museum was sure it had fixed the threat to its future thanks to the help of a landowner and entrepreneur
Directors of a much-loved aviation museum in Cornwall say its eviction from Newquay Airport has scuppered a £1m plan to reopen at a new site nearby. Cornwall Airport Limited - which is owned by Cornwall Council - issued notice to Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre (CAHC) to vacate through its agent, CBRE Property Management UK this week.

It formally advised CAHC on Tuesday (April 4) to clear the entire site and move thousands of valuable heritage exhibits by Tuesday, April 11 otherwise the council’s agent will "make arrangements for them to be disposed of". The museum was sure that it had fixed the threat to its future when local landowner and businessman Rundle Weldhen offered a new site alongside the airport and entrepreneur and philanthropist Mark Lancaster pledged £1 million for the relocation project.

However, it depended on remaining at the current premises and being able to trade until December, while new aircraft hangars and museum buildings were constructed at the new site. The museum says this was flatly refused by Cornwall Council on March 24.

It doesn’t seem right to “like” that post, but thanks for sharing.

It's a bit surprising that the demise of the Virgin Space Launch operation hasn't created a bit of wiggle room.

Well is not that company, or the US end only in Chapter 11? That means a long way from bankruptcy in our meaning of the word here.

Homeless Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre forced to sell off jets on eBay to pay to scrap other planes
The museum was told it had to vacate its home for the last seven years by Easter

"We have two more aircraft, our bigger VC10 and BAC111, which we have to scrap because moving them from the airport is just too expensive. It will cost us £60,000 to scrap them. The VC10 is one of only four left in the world. To pay for that we need to sell off the other jets and that's why they're on eBay."

The front 60' of fuselage of BAC 1-11 ZH763 will be going to Solent Sky Museum at Southampton as a cafe and disabled access cockpit.

It's sad the museum has closed and aircraft are being scrapped, but museum was a business and despite what they're saying, the council didn't terminate their lease, they simply didn't renew it when it expired. Maybe if it had become a charity then it wouldn't have happened.
