A lot of tours down for 6233. I suspect the 10th December “Christmas Waverley” will sell out the quickest.

Out of interest how is it managed for non-coupled bankers, which I think still operate sometimes at Lickey on heavy freights (or have they now ceased altogether)?

There is non coupled banking out of Victoria. Details are in the Sectional Index as I understand it. The rules are specific.

Didn't have a proper camera with me today but a quick phone grab of 60103, still sporting its royal cab top, at Royal Oak on its way into Paddington

I think the situation at Victoria is a bit odd, my understanding is that it’s uncoupled banking out of platform 1 & 2 but for all other platforms the banker has to be coupled. I think these, on the face of it, illogical local regulations apply to a lot of places, when the Bristol Belmond used Barton Hill depot Clan Line was permitted to propel the whole train from Temple Meads into the depot but not the other way. There are some places where an engine is permitted to propel a support coach on a turning move and some where it’s prohibited

Not familiar with BTM but I suspect there may be more than one signal between Barton Hill and the station but not the other way. I thought we had established that you are only allowed to propel past one signal.
However I agree the uncoupled banker rule on the face of it seems strange but from track maps for Victoria you cross only about 2 or 3 points with little direction change, where as going out of the others there could be a fair number of quite tight turn point moves. But that is only my guess, we need a driver or a guard to inform us.

Not a Friend but on the 6233 Fan Page this was the response to a question about whether the Duchess would be on the August CV.

"Unlikely to be on that train, still under an intermediate overhaul, with a fair wind and some good luck, possibly be ready for the end of November.

Hmm okay thanks for the reply, probably a bit risky then booking the Christmas Cheshireman as that runs on the 25th November

Possibly one for another thread, but I do wonder why some promoters advertise tours with locomotives that aren’t quite ready yet?

Can you think of one that does not Matt?
The diesel tours thread on wnxx is the same, everyone saying this one or that one is not or will be going to be ready.

I think there were a number of trips (over several years) that advertised 6023 as motive power..

It's always been that way. I would have thought the lesson would have been learnt by now, until a loco is dismantled and all the necessary parts are delivered there's no point in even giving an estimate of when it will be ready.

Good to see the Bath and Bristol trip making a return to starting at Three Bridges and picking up at Haywards Heath, with 6233 making a first appearance in these parts (all being well). I'm keeping an eye doing this one (given I only have to cross the road more or less to board it), but is currently dependent on any changes in the football schedule, but would still be nice to go out and see it if I don't.

As was 46100, as was 60103… LSL also did something similar with 45112, I don’t think anyone minds something as a late sub, but I wouldn’t say it’s wise to advertise a tour with something that hasn’t had a test or hasn’t a ticket just yet.

And as previous advertising a shorter return time ( over an hour)than outward. Return time will be similar to outward. I remember being on one which left 1 hour later than advertised so the return arrived 2 hours later than advertised.

I guess the issue with 6023 was the only time it actually made it onto the mainline in its 10 year ticket was a tow to Paddington!
