Three images of the Hastings unit en route to Weymouth with the Jurassic Coast Explorer.
Part of the full on 60's theme at Wareham this weekend with of course the Swanage DMU and British India Line tomorrow evening. IMG_2091.JPG IMG_2095.JPG IMG_2099.JPG

Went via Reading though, so a bit more forgivable going on to that funny region.

Are red blinds alone permitted these days? This is my shot on the return, more or less opposite my house at Brockham (between Dorking and Betchworth). The three power cars were quite noisy on this ascent.

I failed to notice the third power car on @Gladiator 5076's photos! 60119, the one with 1013 on the front and with yellow horns, was on its first mainline service for 35 years.

Edit - no passengers being carried in 60119 due to lack of toilets and corridor.

It's not clear. The Sectional Appendix refers to a lamp displaying a red aspect protecting trains stabled in platforms.
I presume that includes red tail blinds as they were always regarded as a tail lamp for signalling purposes.

No other reference to red tail lamps or blinds found on a quick search of the Sectional Appendix.

    Cheers, Neil

Yes, red blinds are still permitted on the Southern.
