Hardly. A perusal through Preserved British Steam shows a huge number of historic short and long term visitors to the ELR. A smattering of privately owned/ small groups that started life at the ELR or were associated with the ELR (Riley and the Beets). The crab is still out unfortunately and City Of Wells was purchased as resilience. There is a dearth of operational "big chuffers" at the moment at Bury there seems to always be one hired in. There is seemingly good work happening on the GWR locos and 45337 but they're not going to pop up quickly. But if I've got this wrong (and I don't appreciate the accusations of being wrong elsewhere without it being backed up) then do enlighten us oh wise one

I think you might be in denial here. The ELR has always had a rather weak and minimal fleet of its own - hence the decision to buy 34092. It has struggled to overhaul the locos it has that have reached the 10 year mark (Crab & Jinty) and was unable to provide a working home for the Black 5 restored there. Consequently it has always relied on hired in locos for the majority of its needs. Perhaps times are changing - they really need to as relying on such fickle and uncertain source of motive power leaves it a hostage to destiny.

I'm with @Paul Grant. There is a consistent theme on matters ELR of hired in locomotives, with a thin home fleet that is boosted by the hire fleet of Ian Riley. This is in stark contrast to the excellent, broad and deep collection of diesels at Bury, and conspicuous from the nature of the diesel and steam galas that are advertised.

As for matters relating to Joanne Crompton, I base my views on what is in the public domain, paying particular attention to what ELR themselves have said. It is not a pretty picture, and wouldn't be if her complaints were wholly unfounded and her exclusion from the railway fully merited.

The Saloon and Estate versions of heavy freight locomotives 4200 being the Hatchback in this metaphor.

Now this is the last post from me on this, so don't bother to respond, I've got grass to cut............. but your last response re:- presumably 7229 and/or 3855 (which is making progress) just shows that you know absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, nowt, zilch, nil.
On the other matter, you've read it on twitter/instagram/internet so it must be true..............

If Joanne were to seek legal action against the ELR. I would be happy to donate to any crowdfunding exercise covering her legal fees.

Given that ELR GM Tracey has now left under a mutual termination agreement (‘allegedly’), isn’t it time for Chairman Mick Kelly to say ‘sorry’ and invite Joanne Crompton back to end the recent unpleasantness?

Or is it time for Mike Kelly to leave by mutual consent also? I haven’t seen an announcement about Tracey Parkinson, but I cannot help wonder if another woman has been “sacrificed”. The optics are still not right somehow.

AIUI the main reason for Tracey leaving is threats to her life by so called supporters of Joanne Crompton and the stress it has all caused her.

If that’s true and such threats have been made then that is utterly unacceptable. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Any such threats, (as were discussed about me: ‘How about going round her place with pick axe handles and balaclavas’) are always unacceptable. But would seem, in this case to have been prompted by unacceptable behaviour towards Joanne which went unmanaged by the Railway.

IMHO organisations get the culture they deserve.
